Come with me to ride my 200th coaster at Hersheypark, August 8, 2004!

Barry, I thought of a couple questions. In looking at your favorite coasters there are two Hershey Park ones on there. Is Lightning Racer a smooth caoster? I know it's a wooden coaster, but some of them jerk around a lot, which I don't like (and it gives me a migraine :( ). Also, Top Thrill Dragster is on your list, but I don't see it listed in the HP rides. Is it still around?

Thanks, T&B

Lightning Racer is fast and smooth, FUN! Avoid the Wildcat if you are prone to migraines. It really knocks you around.

Thanks! Now to remember...yes, Lightening Racer... no, Wildcat. Any other hints with kids? Or things that we shouldn't miss? The last time we were there the only water type things that I can remember was the Canyon River Rapids, but it looks like there are more rides where we might get wet. Do you advise wearing swimsuits or clothes that dry quickly and changing into other clothes later in the day or are there not many water type rides?

Once you get back to the area where Canyon River Rapids and Roller Soaker (just before the wooden coasters in Midway America) there are lockers and bathhouses where you can change to bathin suits. I highly recommend changing or having a change of clothes with you - don't forget undies, socks and shoes!

We rode CRR first thing (2nd actually) and I was damp all day. I brought a change of clothes for DH, but not myself. You must wear shoes on CRR ,so we had to buy DD a pair of flip flops because her feet were soaked. Don't forget plastic bags for your wet items.

If you love coasters and visit England you have to go to Alton Towers theme park. It has some amazing coasters. My three favourites are Air where you are tipped foreward and fly face down (like superman) and at one point you do a head first dive over the crowds in the park!! Then there is Oblivion which is a 250 foot vertical drop into a hole in the ground (you are held over the drop for 5 seconds, a voice says "Don't look down" and then you drop!!) Then there is also Nemasis, a bit like Kracken at Sea world which along with the Manhatten Express (at the New York New York hotel in Vegas) is my favourite rollercoaster of all time.

I read on the HP website that there are lockers in various places in the park, but it would be good to have them near a bathhouse. We'll go in our swimsuits, like we often do, and change later. It's supposed to be a cool day so we won't want to be wet for long.

I assume that there isn't a place on the wet rides to store fanny packs, etc. I'm used to the big raft rides like at Universal with the center covered area. We were worried about ruining our cell phones when we went to Kenneywood last month, but I will bring little ziplock bags to put my wallet/fannypack in.

Yes, a bag for the wet stuff is a good idea. Are the lockers near the bathhouse in a central location in the park to make it easy for getting into later in the day? We usually wear our water sandals, so should be ok with those unless it's really cool outside.

One other question. I know that food and drinks are not allowed into the park, but are we allowed to bring water? We usually bring a little water jug (1 quart size I think), filled with ice water and then bring bottles to refill it with. We will have a stroller so we just hook it on there. Also, do they care if we bring some snacks in? I don't mean a lunch, but some breakfast bars, etc, to keep the kids happy until we are ready to buy lunch My husband will be overjoyed if they don't allow any food--he's afraid that I won't buy him lunch if I bring snacks in. :teeth: I guess that was more than one question. lol

Thanks, T&B
