Come on AP Rates!!!

I was waiting for the AP rate for a trip in December. I was able to get a standard at the Yacht Club for Dec 2-5. We arrive on the 1st. We can stay somewhere else the first night, but we prefer the Yacht Club the whole time (or the Poly if it comes up!). So if you have a reservation that includes December 1st at Yacht Club, please PM me with the time you plan to call and cancel. This would be SUPER appreciated!!! (even if it is a water view...)

I wish standard view was available on our dates (Dec. 2-12), but I guess they're all booked up. We're currently paying extra for water view, but I'm still happy with YC and the 42% discount.

SOmetimes room types esp. at Deluxe resorts are not all included in all dates. We were at WL Woods view (40%PIN) for our Feb stay. When AP rates came out I checked daily to see if any Woods or Standard were avail None ever where and we went Feb 5-11 no holiday and should have been slow time. Some rooms are just not included at all times. You might want to keep checking though! Long way off.

Yeah, I figure it can't hurt to keep checking...you never know. If it never happens, though, that's ok. I know they tend to keep the discounted rates for either certain rooms they've blocked off, or rooms that aren't filling up. I think YC is really popular on our dates.

I would if I were you. You never know. It didn't happen for us for the Feb trip but back in May of 2009 we had a PIN for a free $500 giftcard and booked the ASMu (yes, $500 at ASMu for a mim 5 day stay and a 1 day pass requirement) About a month before we left my son decided he wanted to go. I called and no rooms at ASMu with the PIN. I called many times. Finally about 10 days before leaving a preferred room at ASMu was avail with the code. We booked it. He got the $500 giftcard as well and used it to upgrade his 1 day pass to an AP! anyway checking helped in this instance. Also, he had preferred, we had standard. When we got there guess what! We had 2 preferred connecting rooms!! (No add'l cost to us!) So KEEP checking!

We passed our ROI point within three days of buying the TIW card and everything after that is gravy. It cost us $75 and we've already saved over $100 and we have a full week coming up in December (that will include V&As!) and we don't even drink, so if you add the discount to alcoholic beverages then your savings will be even bigger. I don't know why any AP holder would want to do the DDP instead of TIW - TIW is sooooooo much better and more flexible. No counting credits, no worrying about what is covered. Just go eat. :thumbsup2

ITA! And believe me, I was a HUGE lover of the DDP (DxDDP, actually). I liked the idea of pre-paying for my food. But after using TiW a couple of trips I came to really appreciate it. I loved not being tied down to the credits, ordering what I wanted (sometimes an appy, sometimes no appy but maybe dessert etc)

TiW is, for me, a primary reason why I even get the AP! I don't like the dining plan because I want more flexibility about when/where/how I eat, and don't have to worry if I don't make an ADR, how will I make up the credits that I've already bought, etc. Last time I bought an AP, we did V&A and it paid not only for itself, but almost the entire cost of the AP upgrade! This time we're doing V&A again, so I'm getting the AP & the TiW! Love it!

You're welcome. Are you saying you have hopper tickets plus the AP voucher. If they are regular WDW tickets, you can keep them for a future stay. Tickets are good forever if not used. Make sure they are MYW passes and don't use them since you have an AP as well. You will have those tickets for a future use and if they are regular MYW tickets, you could have just used them to upgrade, but since you already have the AP voucher, keep those tickets. It may be something different, so ask before using them. Once you use them they're only good for 14 days. I'm so happy for you that you won a trip to WDW. How did you win it? Yes, TIW is a good way to save on dining. Any other questions, please ask!

Thank you so much for this information :thumbsup2 I really appreciate this great advise. I will contact the prize contact person and ask what kind of tickets they are. I sent you a PM. :goodvibes

Sophie832, I totally agree with Disneyfan and her experience. I have called almost daily in the past to look for dates, rates and resorts. I have always been able to find exactly what I needed. We don't go every year, and since we live so far away from WDW we don't do multiple trips each year. But, I have gotten exactly what I needed or a better offer by checking and calling frequently. Good Luck :thumbsup2

You are quite welcome! Yes, contact the place where you won. No matter what they say, I would still double check at Guest Relations at a park before using/exchanging either. My guess is that they are regular tickets and you will be able to keep them, but you just never know. Good Luckk and have a great trip! (I didn't receive a pm, just to let you know. )

:rolleyes1 Silly me, I thought I would be able send it right away. When you have pets, kids and a DH you never know what will happen. So sorry....it should be there now. ;)

Have a great evening.

We had a BB package booked at WL for Dec and since have become AP holders. There was nothing available at WL so we decided to stay at Pop. We just stayed there a few weeks ago and decided that the price just couldn't be beat. I also LOVE the fact that I can use my TiW discount at the food court at Pop. The discount really adds up! We got a rate of $55/night. Just can't beat it.

We have always stayed deluxe and I half jokingly told my husband..."I knew once we went value you would never let me go back to deluxe". LOL
I guess we are a value family now.

But I told him I'm definitely staying at BC or YC someday. Maybe that will be vacation without daddy. LOL

I was kind of bummed when the AP rates came out. I booked WL Dec 4-15 with the 40% PIN, I was hoping that they would have the same thing available under the AP rate so I could get rid of the one day ticket, alas, nothing.

I could have switched to AKL for $350 less, but in the end, we decided that since we had been talking about this trip for a year now and have planned most of our trip around this resort, we just kept WL with the pin.

However, for the first part of our stay, I was able to switch from POP to ASMo and saved $200.

In the end, I'm happy with what we have and can't wait to get there!:banana:

Yes, actually just saw it and answered it! Have a nice day!

We orig. booked the the PIN for our Nov/Dec and no ticket was required. I really never heard of that with a room only PIN. Just wondering.

My daughter and I invited my niece and her daughter as our guests for the November trip. We had booked a deluxe room at WL so that we'd have a little more room but these aren't included on the AP discounts so I cancelled. We're staying at the Dolphin in a suite. This suits our trip better and you can't beat the location.

I was able to call back and change to the Contemporary at the AP rate, so I'm excited about that! The first day the AP rates came out, there were apparently no rooms available with the AP rate on our dates, but when I called back yesterday, there was some availability. So I guess the inventory does change as people cancel/change reservations etc. I'd love a tower room, but garden was all that was open, so we jumped on it. Maybe something else will open up closer to our trip.

I've been doing the same thing with WL. If something comes up, I'll call and try to have it modified, if not, oh well.:)

What do you have booked and what are you trying for? When I first called about AP rates, all they had at WL was a courtyard bunk. I ended up booking Poly, but wasn't too excited about it...we really wanted to try the Contemp, so I'm glad we've ended up there.

We :lovestruc WL! I know the cheaper rooms fill up quickly, esp near the holidays. Good luck!

OK. If you have the AP, have you thought of using TIW? We find that a better deal for us and our eating habits (not big dessert eaters and really don't want the included drinks)
I have thought about TIW, but I love having everything prepaid with the DDP. Sometimes, it is a lot of food, but we like having the freedom of choosing things we might not normally eat or try restaurants I might normally try if I'm looking at the prices. Might be something we look into when we have kids.

We have a woods view bunk bed room as that's all they had left with the 40% pin. I was just hoping they would have the same deal for our dates under AP so we could get rid of the park ticket that we had to buy for the DDP.
