Come join me on my jouney! MagicalMom's journal (comments welcome)

Here is some scale moving pixie dust for you! :wizard:

Keep it up, no matter what that pesky scale tells you on Sunday - you'll have a loss, I can feel it!!! :goodvibes As long as you are eating healthy and exercising, the weight will eventually come off. It gets easier as time goes on, don't worry!

I'm a bit frustrated, too, with slow scale movement. It's hard not to get discouraged. I'm just going to keep going. I know the scale will eventually show it (hopefullly sooner rather than later). Good luck.

Well, I'm so sad to say that the scale didn't move. :guilty: Well, I started to think about it. I am an over weight mother of 3, ages 4, 9 & 14. The 14 yo gives me a bit of trouble, as 14 yo olds do. That combind with the stress in my life released cortisol, triggering my belly fat. so, it's not really my fault. It's hers! :rotfl: Anyways, with all of that stress, plus selling my house, waiting for the new one to be built, working, cleaning, buills to pay, weight to lose, life to deal with; I felt the need to add one more issue to my plate. If you going to do it, do it right, right? So, I quit smoking on Friday. It's now Tuesday & I'm still doing good. Using nicorette gum, it's really, really nasty. It's so nasty that you don't even want to eat after chewing the nasty stuff. so, that's where I am. Hopefully soon I'll notice a lb or two dropping off. :)

Wow, that is quite a challenge! You made the right choice by quitting smoking, and that is a WAY more important thing than losing weight! Once you get the smoking habit kicked, then you can concentrate on the weight. And who knows, the nicorette gum might be an excellent weight loss aid as well!

Good luck, you can do it! Don't get discouraged! :cheer2:

Hi MagicalMom-

First, I want to say I love your journal. It made me giggle! :teeth:

Wow, you really do have a lot on your plate. I think your quitting smoking is fantastic - such a terrific thing to do for yourself (and your family). Good for you!

Oh My! Looks like i'm going to have to work a little harder today! My sabatouer children have out done me! :guilty: They tricked me into eating bowl of ice cream last night! Ugh! I can't believe their devilish trickery! They told me I deserved it for not smoking. Truth was they wanted me to go get the ice cream. :earseek: They used their conniving, flattering ways against me. Now the poor treadmill must suffer with the additional weight of the ice cream bearing against it!

Okay, Okay, maybe I didn't have to eat it; but I did! Done & over with! No sense beating myself up for hours about it. I'll just have to be very careful not to finish it off while the children are at school today. I'll just have to stay out of the freezer. I can do it! Let me go chew another piece of nicotine gum That will make me sick enough that I can't eat for hours!

I want to let you know that I am very proud of you for sticking with this AND giving up smoking while trying to lose this weight. That is awesome and with the two together you will start feeling SOOOOOOOO much better!!!! Way to go!

And don't worry about the ice cream, next time just divy it up into each of the kids bowls and make them eat it. :)

Keep on
Chris

So, a can of soup is suppsed to feed two people??? Oh so that could be where I have been going wrong huh? Imagine that! :earseek:

I did 45 minutes on the treadmill today & walked for 45 minutes at home. I've been reading about the WDW marathon. I've decided to make that my goal. I will be in the 2007 marathon! I am so excited to have a new goal! plus get to go to WDW too! What could be better! :earboy2:

DH is off tomorrow so he is going to the gym with me! It's great thet my son goes to pre-school at the YMCA. I know I'm going to be there every day & feel obligated to work out while I'm there. The pool looks so nice & refreshing too. Once I feel more comfortable with my body I will be adding a swim into my routine!

I need to deal with my English muffin & peanut buter addiction too. I don't think I should be having a couple of those a day! One step at a time.

Good for you on setting that goal!

I think it's great that you can workout in the same place where your son is in school. I'm jealous about the pool. You'll have to take a swim for me.

Still chewing my super nasty gum! Still going day after day without a cheese steak. I might give in soon to be honest with you! :earseek: Maybe! Maybe not! :rotfl:

I bought new shoes today. Those Walmart ones I bought a couple weeks ago were cute, but they just weren't cutting it. Kohl's opened in our area today & I bought a pair of Nikes. They're even cuter!!!

I walked for 45 minutes today. DH & I were having time organization issues today & were only able to make it to the gym for 20 minutes.

I bought another new gym outfit today too. Still size 12/14. I decided that I won't be being anymore clothes until I go down a size! :rotfl: I will be skinny one day! Or else! :cheer2:

:earseek: ****Emergancy update****TMI****Important Questions!!****

OK! I've been reading & checking but I'm still terribly confused. Doing THAT time of the month do we still have to work out???? Do we still have to follow our diet??? Oh No! Can we have chocolate??? I can't deal with the gym today!!! Won't a nap be so much better????? Where are the stinking guidelines anyways???? :confused3 Ok, I've got to work 12 hours on Saturday, 12 hours on Sunday, by Monday I will be feeling better & ready to hit the gym in those new cute shoes.

I did walk for 45 minutes this morning so atleast I did something. :teeth: I just don't feel like going to the gym or even to the grocery store. I've actually been trying to figure out if there is enough food in the house to get my family through the weekend so that I can wait & shop on Monday.

Now about the chocolate, well, It's harder to give up than cigarettes! They should make a nasty gum for choclate addicts. I better try to get over it now because when Halloween hits I'll have a house full of candy! Must admit, I'm going to miss my traditional Nov. 1st breakfast of mini M & Ms & Butterfingers.

Oh & guess what, before I had my coffee this morning I actuallys at down & drank 16 oz. of water. It wasn't so bad. I'm getting better at drinking it.

It will all be worth it in the end! :teeth:

So glad you found cute shoes that are made for people who are going to exercise! :cool1: Now that you are doing all that walking, you have to have decent shoes or you'll end up with all sorts of back and knee and foot problems!

ooh! ooh! If you get to a size 10 before I get to a size 14 can I have all your really cute gym clothes!?! ;) J/K -- Don't you LOVE cute workout clothes? I have some great stuff I found at Target. Have fun working toward the next size of cute clothes!

As for the chocolate issue, sorry. It would be nice if all bets were off during the icky week, but then we'd have to cut ourselves a break for PMS, too, and then we'd be eating whatever we wanted 2 weeks out of 4. NOT good! ;) I'm sorry you are going to miss your annual, traditional November 1 breakfast of mini m&ms & butterfingers. How sad! But just think how CUTE you'll look while you're pouting! :rotfl2:

Have a great night!

Oh, one last thing -- with all the amazing amounts of exercise you are accomplishing, I think you should join the October Exercise Challenge. Just think how high your number already is! Come on, we'd love to have you join us! :cheer2:

Keenercan maybe I will join next months exercise challenge. I have to start practicing my sprint before the Black Friday Toys R Us race! :cheer2: :cheer2: That is a race, right???

But . . . . but. . . . but --- you have so many exercise minutes in already! Don't you want to brag about your effort and see the number going up and up and motivate other people, too? You could pick a really do-able number, like 310 total (that is an average of only 10 minutes per day!) and you are well on your way!

I know I am a pain the the butt! :earseek: Just thought I'd come here and bother you! BTW, just think of what great shape you'll be in in 7 weeks to do that sprint! ;) :cool1:  :earboy2:

Cam you crack me up! I just might take you up on the polar bear plunge. You'll have to let me know when it is well in advance because I work every weekend & can only take off every 16 weeks.

I wanted to add my measurements on here so that I'll be able to look back on them some day. Hopefully I took them correctly.

Waist 34"
Hips 43"
Thighs 21"
Chest 41"

I can't wait until those numbers are just a memory! :cheer2: :cheer2:

First Sunday in February, MagicalMom! Be there or be . . . DRY!!!!

Really, it's fun just to come and cheer on the plungers :rotfl: even if you don't take a dive yourself! :teeth: Amazing air of excitement! :goodvibes:

I'll cheer you on in the Black Friday Toys R Us Race as long as I can do it from home. My plan is to avoid being there at all costs.

Chocolate....depends on how much willpower you have. I used to keep a bag of dark chocolate kisses in the house. I've heard that dark chocolate is actually good for you because of the antioxidents (did I spell that anywhere near correct?). So I figure if I'm going to eat a bite of chocolate I can at least say, "but it's good for me!" The problem with the theory is that I can't eat just one. Or two. If you can, then I think it's ok. Not so good if you end up eating 1/2 the bag over the course of 1 day. :rolleyes1

Well, another week went by & I didn't lose a pound! It's so sad! :guilty: My pants a feeling looser though. Maybe next week the scale will move. :goodvibes

If your pants are loose that means you are gaining muscle and losing fat! You won't see a change on the scale, but you will see a change in your physique and clothes and THAT is what matters the most!

As for the chocolate, I really love the Chocolate-n-Creme Creme Savers. It is 60 calories for 3 of them and it REALLY takes care of the chocolate craving! I also like Hershey's kisses, but I can't control myself or stop at 1 or 2. Another fave is Peppermint Patties. They are not that high in calories and eating 1 or 2 seems to get me off the edge of a binge. YOU CAN RESIST!!! Chew a nasty piece of gum everytime the craving hits, then you will condition yourself to eventually hate chocolate...

You are doing great with the no smoking AND eating better and exercising. Join the exercise challenge, it really is motivating! Keep up your great work! :cheer2:
