Comcast's Hostile Takeover Bid...

Here you go...

From AV:
If Comcast or whoever ends up the winning bidder needs cash to close the deal, there will be a firesale of assets to raise the funds. The parks will be the first on the block because they will raise the most money and are the most easily broken up into bit sized pieces: the resorts to Mr. X, the parks to Mr. Y, the water parks to Mr. Z., etc. Other bits likely to go are Miramax (rumors already sat Harv is calling around to raise money), the cruise line, publishing and motion picture production.

This same poster posted about 6 months ago that Comcast has been looking to acquire Disney...

AV is a very trusted source to the rumors board. So while it can be construed as rumor, I would not dismiss it.

I think the bickering of whether it is rumor or not is immaterial! The main question is, what can WE do now to make an impact in the outcome????

Ditto here, guys! Can't see this being good for us at all.

I wasn't bickering, just pointing you that the dealing has barely begun and people already know what Comcast is going to do with Disney.

And as far as what we can do, sit back and watch it all unfold. Unless of course someome has a couple billion stashed away that they can outbid Comcast.

Let's not be so quick to rush to judgement here.

From all I have gathered and observed, I am not so sure this not exactly what Disney needs now, or at least sets in motion a great bit of activity.

Comcast has a history of infusing lots of cash into it's products in order to improve its products. It has shown a profit consistently for quarters on end (you stock holders will like that!). They do their homework and treat both employees and customers very well.

Also keep in mind starting with the head of cable (Steve Burke), Comcast executives are littered with former Disney employees. Many of whom left Disney as a result of being upset over Disney (and in particular Mr. Eisner) losing it's central focus of being a family entertainment company.

While we all would likely agree that Disney remaining independent woudl be best, the current corporate structure has been asleep at the wheel over the last several years. They lost sight of the core structure of Disney chasing short term profits and failing at that on many occasion. This has left the long term prospects of the company dim and ripe for a takeover.

This is early in the game, but it certainly seems to spell the end of the Eisner era in one way, shape or form. Comcast could win the board and/or shareholders over, or perhaps a white knight could ride in and save the company (can anyone say Bill Gates? Try that one on for size), or even more possibly, the assets coudl be split amongst various corporate raiders and Roy Disney could lead a group that controls "Classic Disney." Lots of options...

But me? I kind of like the Comcast idea. Strong executives and apparently ones that "get" what Disney is supposed to be. I see that as a positive for not only the cruise line, but parks, animation and on down the line.

Buckle up, it's going to be a bumpy ride!
