We have digital Comcast cable, so we get a gazillion and one channels, right? Yeah well EXCEPT the one channel that I would probably watch more than any other, THE TRAVEL CHANNEL! WHY doesn't Comcast offer it?!?!?! :(:(:( Does anyone with Comcast get it?? Another cable company around here, Millenium, offers it. But it'd be a huge pain to change over to them just for that, plus we'd lose all the cool things we get with Comcast. (We also use Comcast for our internet...)

I'm just bummed I can never see all the cool WDW shows!

I called them and asked once. They told me that it might be something they would offer in the future. They also said that there wasn't enough demand for it and that if they offered it now they would have to delete a channel because they can only have a certain number  . This was about 6 months ago.

That is just one of the many reasons that when Comcast came to our area we went and got DirectTV.

I have Comcast and have the Travel Channel up here....no digital thou'..at least I don't think I have that!
I pay for what they call basic and expanded service. No premium channels for me! And with my Comcast internet service it's almost $100.00 a month! But we don't have any choices in cable providers here, unless we go Direct TV.

Our local Comcast dropped the Travel channel a few years ago. That is the only channel that I watched the most. I was hoping they would bring it back, but so far they haven't. Guess we are going Direct TV soon, as they now have local channels in our area.

liznboys.... I hear ya! We just got digital cable from Comcast and I was SO hoping that the Travel Channel would be included. My mom was in the hospital about a month ago and they had the Travel Channel in there, I got to see a couple of the shows from WDW, very cool. I kept hyjacking the remote from my mom and changing the channel when she wasn't paying attention :rolleyes1:

last year I lived in Oak Lawn IL and had the Travel channel.Moved to Indianapolis and don't have it. Both Comcast.

It has nothing to do with just being Comcast.

It is probably because of their franchise agreement with the local government. They have to carry certain channels, they have to carry a certain number of channels. It's all in the contract they sign with your local gov't. If they want to add the travel channel, they would have to get rid of some other channel and the agreement may not allow for this.

It's not as easy as everyone thingks to just add a channel.

Hope this helps.

:D

We have Comcast Digital and the Travel Channel is on Channel 60, right after CourtTV and HGTV! My 3 faves!

....we just got a letter from comcast that starting july 13 we will no longer get Travel channel or most other channels that we like!
We have to switch to digital cable AND we still won't get Travel channel, foodTV,Animal planet, courtTV. I'm SO mad!! I'm not crazy about Comcast to begin with, and now this!! What really makes me mad is that I have 5 spanish stations----I don't speak spanish!! I could also do without the holyroly stations!! I'm seriosly considering Direct TV. Anybody in Massachusetts have it?
What's the monthly bill? Right now,I'm paying Comcast $145.00 a month for internet and cable(basic plus HBO,Showtime,Cinemax).

We have comcast here in NH and we have the travel channel. DH watches it often..I cant because I simply sit there and drool::yes::

We have Comcast basic servcice but not Travel Channel. But they don't have the travel on digital either.

I refuse to go digital until they offer a nice lineup of channels that don't have a 100 muisic channels.

I also have Comcast and we get The Travel Channel but I would also like to have SoapNet and Comcast does not offer it in our area.

We have it here in Miami, and have Comcast also. They get rid of the travel channel, thats it for me. We had Digital Cable, and it kept going UP and UP in price, so after 9 months, we got rid of it and went back to regular cable, only Encore is our Movie choice.:o

We have Comcast Digital Cable and we do get the Travel Channel. I am in a city just north of Boston, MA.

I hate that rule. it's not so bad now that we have digital cable (Time Warner here), but in the years when all we could get was basic cable, they had to drop popular channels like Comedy Central and WGN (which meant no more Cubs games!) in favor of locally based shopping and religious channels. TW received a flood of complaints but couldn't do anything at the time.

Grog,

Yup! A lot of times there hands are tied in regards to adding and deleting channels.

Another thing a lot of people don't understand is why there bills are so high.

For example, everybody complained when Comcast wanted to buy Disney. Disney owns ESPN, which is one of the most expensive cable channels there is. Most cable systems count ESPN as their highest in demand channel. Disney knows this. Disney raises the price for ESPN every year. The cable companies can do nothing but pay the high prices because they know there customers won't want cable without ESPN.

Had Disney actually purchased Comcast, cable bills probably would have decreased or at least stayed where they are for a while. This also would have allowed Comcast to hold ESPN over other people's heads when they also want to charge high prices for their channels.
