Combining points

I’m thinking of adding on a 2nd contract and have a question about combining points. I feel kind of dumb asking it since it seems simple but here goes. I know they can be combined at the 7 month mark. I have a direct contract with an April UY and I have a reservation for May 2023 at my home resort. If I buy a 2nd contract with a different UY can I use those points at the 7 month mark of the reservation on my contract with the April UY? I think having different UY is where I’m getting confused.

You'd have a separate membership if you don't have the same UY. You can always transfer the points over from one membership to another (limited to one in or out per UY I believe) and then use them together, but it will require some tracking on your part since the transferred points retain their original characteristics (home resort, banking deadline).

So if I get same UY and same resort it’s 1 membership?

Same UY and owners, it’s the same membership. It can be the same or different resort.

Same resort and you can use both contracts to pool the points at 11 months. If it’s a different resort, then it can be pooled at 7 months for all points but RIV…as resale points are restricted from being used at RIV.

If the are resale RIV points, then they can only be used at RIV.

Different UY is a different membership and that means to use points together for a single reservation with your April UY points, you’d have to transfer them between the two. And there are rules to go with it.

Since the current trip is on your current membership, you’d only be able to transfer points for use in that trip. if you buy a different UY.

And, you’d need to be sure they would be eligible for that trip as transferred points can’t be borrowed.
