I just wanted to let anyone who didn't know that you can save a little money through AAA even if you are taking advantage of the free park hopper and more upgrade. I have confirmed with CRO and already booked - you just have to be willing to split your stay into 2 separate reservations. The minimum stay for the free upgrade is 3 nights, so I booked a 3 night package with the 10 day tickets (with free upgrade) then I booked another 10 nights (under a second ressie) at POP at the AAA rate. Saved 15% on my last 10 nights plus a free upgrade. Confirmed with two separate CRO reps and as I said have arleady booked both. There is the small risk that I'll have to switch rooms after the 3rd night but for $150 I'll do that. Good Luck all!! - and thanks to all for all the great info!! :woohoo:

Am I correct in thinking that if you wanted dining, there wouldn't be much savings by splitting?

ie, right now I have 10day with dining +water -hopper... to get the free upgrade, I'd have to do a 3day with 10 days of tickets, then a 7 day with 1 day of tickets (to be able to add dining).

I think that 1 day ticket would probably run ~$200 for 4 people, right?

btw - do you have to call to get the free park hopper & more upgrade, or is it avail on the website?

Could be mistaken but, I thought you could only book 10 nights max./per res. anyway but, could link more than one?

That was my understanding as well (and why I originally thought I was going to have to split) but the CRO told me you could stay up to 30 days on one reservation so who knows. Apparently she said after 30 days they have to split you, as at that point you become a Florida resident!?!?

BTW - I'm not sure how it would work with dining as I'm not that familiar with it all, but I did actually upgrade to the dining plan for the 3 day package. We were already planning on going to O'Hana and Whispering Canyon, so now with only 1 child over the age of 3, and a little sharing (which we were going to do anyways) we are going to squeeze out a 'free' trip to Chef Mickeys. Only downside is that all our nice meals are going to be in that first 4 days, but thats not too bad.

Good Luck All and God Bless.

In this person's instance the way it was done was beneficial and a money saver (as there is no dining plan on the reservation.) If you have the dining plan then you cannot do what this person did as the dining would not be on the room only part of your stay.

The other poster's question about packages...yes, you can only book a maximum of 10 nights on a package. Room only reservations are a maximum of 10 nights as well IF you have any discount applied. Without discount you can indeed stay longer than 10 nights all together on one reservation.
