Hiya

I have just been looking at the trip planning link at the top of the board, and it turns out we are there for columbus day in October 2007,

So I was wondering what this means? are the parks busy?

also and most importantly is are there sales on? (gotta love a bargain)

anybody been there on columbus day which I believe is the second monday in october.

thanx anna

Looking at previous crowd estimates there doesn't seem to be much of a blip in crowd numbers around Columbus Day. If there is a slight rise, it would only be on the day itself and the nearest weekend to it :)

We were at MGM last Columbus Day and whilst it was busy we were able to see all the shows, including Fantasmic and ride all the rides including TOT and RNR Coaster twice. The waiting times for TOT & RNR Coaster were 30-40 minutes which were the same wait times as an ordinary day the previous October. So busy but doable.

I've been there for Columbus day for the past 2 years and not noticed a difference-however at around the same time as Columbus Day is Canadian Thanksgiving, which does make a difference to eating as they book up all the TS restaurants to have their Thanksgiving meal in.

Based on our experience in 2004, it's busier but not THAT busy. As October is a fairly quiet time, you'll immediately notice ANY increase in crowds, but it was nowhere near as packed as it gets during other holidays. This may be because only about half the states make Columbus Day a mandatory federal holiday.

We noticed the parks getting fuller on the Thursday before CD, stayed busy over the weekend, but CD itself was not busy at all, probably because this was the day everyone was going home to get back to work on Tuesday.

To give you an example, we were at MGM on the Thursday and the queues for the major attractions were about 30 minutes where we'd normally expect them to be 10-15 (so still not too bad). The only thing we got caught out by was Fantasmic - it was full up with 1 hour 20 to go whereas you could normally find a good seat with still 45 mins left.

For Columbus day read Bank Holiday! The parks are busier, epect the week before to walk on most things & then for that weekend maybe wait 60-90 minutes. Also it's close to October 1/2 term so it get's busier anyway!
