Since DS, 17, was 8 and made his first trip to WDW he has talked about going to WDW for his graduation with a bunch of kids he hung out with. Well 9 years later he is almost there...he will be a senior this fall. :sad2: I have no idea where the time has gone, he is 6'5" tall now but when I look at him I see this 21 1/2 " squirmy worm who hated to ride in cars! :teeth: So the crew is down to just DS and 1 friend;1 parent said no, 1 is going with his family and does not know it, 1 has drifted away, and 1 my son does not want to ask now. I gave him a choice of MNSSHP or MVMCP. He chose MNSSHP which he loves. We thought about going for a looonnng Columbus Day weekend but are not sure what the crowds will be like. Can anyone please give me some input? Thanks so much. :wizard:

DW and I did a long Columbus Day weekend in October 2004, and the only crowd problems we had were with MK on Saturday night - the rest of the time, the parks were very manageable.

Saturday night - MK was packed, wall to wall people!

We were at WDW in Oct '03 during Columbus Day weekend/week. We found the crowds much more crowded compared to the first week of Oct (60 minute wait for headliner attractions) BUT, that was the year they did "Stay for 7 days, pay for 4 days", so that might have had something to do with the crowds!

We are going to be there for that weekend too.

We are actually going from the 1st to the 8th, so technically we are leaving before Columbus Day. I have been doing a bit of fretting over this too. The Unofficial Guide publishes a day by day crowd expectancy based on past years and expected trends. They rate the crowd level from 1 to 10. Example: Everyday between Xmas and New Years is 10. The expected crowd level for Columbus Day week and weekend never gets lower than a 4, but never gets higher than a 6. The gist I am getting is that it is busier than a normal week/weekend in Sept or later Oct, but it is still not nearly as bad as summer, xmas or other traditionally very busy times.

We were there this past Columbus Day weekend. Epcot is pretty crowded because of Food & Wine, but the other parks were tolerable. We arrived Friday early and left Monday late. Those were the best days for MK and Spcot. Saturday and Sunday at MK and EPCOT was crazy but the rest of the property was fine.

Is this guide on line? If so, could you please post a link. Thanks!
