Columbus Day Week? The good, bad, and ugly

OK, how bad is it? LOL. My daughter gets Fall Break during Columbus Week (10-14). We are thinking of doing Disney from Friday or Saturday 10/7 or 10/8) till Saturday (10/15). I know the crowds were worse last year, due to rescheduling from the hurricane. Is Columbus week REALLY awful? And what are the truly "bad days?"

we were there that weekend in 2003...only time we noticed a swell in the crowds was at MK on the Sat. Sun. before Columbus DAy and the actual day..the other parks were by no means as noticable...if you plan to try to stay away over the actual weekend from MK it shouldn't be that bad....we went to MK the Sat before Columbus day as it was the only night Spectro was showing and it was very busy on MAin Street for the parade and getting out was horrible...we sat back and let them go and waited a bit ...on Tuesday it was minimal waits 10-15 minutes....

We were there over Columbus day weekend (Thurs-Tues) this past Oct. and thought the crowds were manageable. Never needed to use fastpass. Took breaks in the afternoon when it would get crowded. World showcase was crowded in the eve but the food and wine festival was going on. Hope to be able to go back this time of year again sometime.

Were there from Friday afternoon until Monday morning - crowds were very manageable, except Saturday night at the MK - extremely crowded - we went just for Wishes (after a California Grill dinner!) and then hung out for a bit and then left. They led crowds out behind the main street buildings thru the cast member area it was so crowded.

We where there this past year from Saturdy to Saturday over Columbus Day and the crownds did not seem bad. Columbus Day we went to MK and it was not bad but it rained all morning. I don't rember the wait times. It Should be fine.

We will be there the week leading into Coumbus Day (actually leaving on Saturday of the holiday weekend so we have decompression day before returning to worK). When planning my week what do you suggest we do near the end of the week when the crowds are starting to gather?

We were there too this year. I actually thought it was more crowded than I expected. Saturday at MK was ok, but just ok. (We had to use the fastpass for a few rides.) Sunday afternoon at MGM was very crowded -- an hour for rnr and tt.
