I have to warn you up front: this will not rank as one of the greatest trip reports ever written in DIS history. A colorful writer I am not. When I was in school (studying journalism in the late '80's) I learned I was a "just the facts, ma'am" kind of a writer. And as it turns out, I don't write much at all anymore... so, apologies in advance ... no sweeping Disney sagas from my corner of the world. :upsidedow

According to my countdown timer, we have just 7+ weeks to go Seems like a good place to start a pre-trip report! :cheer2:

Let's see ... where should I begin? Who? Where? When? How? :scratchin

Who: Our family of :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy: and last, but not least princess:

me: the trip planner ... known as mom since 1989. Member of the DIS since 1999, joined after our first trip to WDW in 1998. Spend most of my time on the Budget & Transportation boards, but have recently started spending a lot of time on the Photography board.
Favorite thing about Walt Disney World? Off Kilter or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Others joining the trip: DH .. who loves WDW as much as the rest of us, he just has a quiet way of showing it. Big fan of the University of Kentucky and Nascar racing. Is much appreciative of what I've learned from the DIS boards over the years.

Our children: the teen, the tween, and the not so teeny weenie. Our oldest was 8 and our middle son was 3 on that first vacation to Walt Disney World in 1998 ... and our daughter was along for the ride from the moment she entered our lives. We took 2 trips while I was pregnant, and her first trip as an observer was when she was 7 months old. She was smitten  They love all things Walt Disney World.... not always the same thing, but it is the one place we can take a family with such varying ages and find something for everyone. That is what keeps us coming back.

Where: 2 nights at the Swan/Dolphin and 6 nights at Vistana Villages. I know, our trip is only 7 nights ... how can we have 8 nights booked at resorts? Hold that thought. I'll get back to it. Booked Dolphin on points (free) and VV through www.govarm.com for a little more than $400/week for a 2BR condo.

When: Columbus Day week, October 6-13, 2007. AKA Fall Break.

How: Airtran & SWA, out of Indianapolis. We haven't driven to Florida since October 2002. Our DD is not a very good car rider. We have the luxury of living within 3 hours of airports in Louisville, Nashville, Cincinnati, Lexington, and Indianapolis. Usually Nashville is the cheapest, not this time. Was able to take advantage of $49 one way on Air Tran and $50 one way on Southwest. (plus all the fees) I also had $147 in SWA credits to use, so this trip will not cost much more than driving. Rental car booked through National Emerald Aisle, $122.xx for the week.

That seems to be a pretty healthy start.... I'll add on more about our touring plans, etc as the weeks count down!
