I live in Colorado Springs. Which area of town are you interested in and what's your price range? We've had family use priceline and gotten the Wyndam (Northwest C.S.), that was in the $40s range. Really just depends on the dates and location, you can PM me if you'd like, I'd be happy to help.

Hi: I'm looking for a nice hotel in Colorado Springs that wont break the bank. Does anyone have a favorite ?
Javaj: My daughters skating team will be skating in the Skate Games of America
at the end of July. We are hoping to find something in the neighborhood of 50.00 to 75.00 per night. I believe they will be skating at the world arena so something close to there would be nice. We got a price for the Hearthside suites but I'm not familar with the chain, and it's 10 miles from the rink.
Ant help you could offer would be great!
I don't know a good one, but I know one to avoid: Econo Lodge & Suites Garden of the Gods. Avoid this one. The room was OK, but the common areas were terrible. And the free continental "breakfast" was a joke.
For quality hotels close to the World Arena, I would choose the Doubletree, Antlers Hilton, or Courtyard (Broadmoor or Cheyenne Mountain resort are the best but they cost$$$$). BUT rates will probably be pretty high because you are coming during an "event". I would suggest using priceline for a 3* hotel, I think people get the Antlers or Doubletree often. Check out www.biddingfortravel.com, I've often seen people get 3* hotels in the area for under $50.
I don't know anythin about Hearthside Suites, sorry.
Good luck, don't hesitate to ask any other questions!

We live in Colorado Springs and have stayed at the Double Tree located within walking distance to the World Arena. Great hotel....we paid $99 for a king bed.
I've only seen the outside of the Fairfield. It looks pretty good, but I can't tell you about the inside. It is right by the Doubletree, by a Target store and a big Cinemark movie theater.

Thanks Javaj: How about the Fairfield in by Marriot? It's only 3/4 of a mile from the arena.
Luckey,
It is very close. You can see the World Arena from the hotel. The parking lot for the World Arena is very big, but it is pretty much right next door. Maybe a 5 to 10 minute walk depending on how fast you're walking.

Javaj: I can't thank you enough for all your help ! I like to be informed as much as possible before recommeding things to the other parents at the rink. I have one last question. I think we are going to go with the fairfield inn. Are there food choices with in walking distance? We may be able to forgo the rental car or just get one or two for the group.

There are food places within walking distance. Really close -- Outback steakhouse (practically next door to the hotel), Burger King, Arby's, Chili's, a bagel place in the shopping center across the street. In Disney terms, the distance from the hotel to the shopping center is probably around the same as from Epcot Spaceship Earth to World Showcase Canada or UK LOL.
By the way, we actually drove by the World Arena area on our way to DS' 3-year-old doctor's appointment today, and I noticed a LaQuinta and a Residence Inn right next to the Fairfield. The Residence Inn looked older but the La Quinta looked fairly new. I've never been in either though.
Good luck, have a great trip, and I'm glad I could help!
