Colorado Cruisers

Thanks all! I am soooo excited. We leave on the Magic September 17! We're going with two other families. My DH and I are realllly looking forward not only to the cruise, but traveling with our good friends.

Hey, I read somewhere on this thread, someone mentioned Pirates Cove...I've never been there, but was thinking about taking the kids there tomorrow, depending on weather of course. What's the lazy river? Do you rent a raft there? Can I take my four year old on there who doesn't know how to swim?

Sorry about the questions, but I've actually never been to a water park!

Thanks,
Lisa.

Hi Lisa - We were just on the Magic a month ago and miss it so much. We want to do it again in 2007, but it'll depend on how much.

Pirate Cove is so much fun. The lazy river is one of my favorite things to do (or not do :goodvibes ) It's just a river that wraps around with a current the pulls you in a tub (those are provided for free). The water is about 3 feet deep (???) I think your 4 year old could sit on your lap and your could float together. Have fun :sunny:

Thanks Teresa! Maybe we'll try to go tomorrow.

Welcome back from your cruise!!! What were some of your favorite memories about the trip?

Lisa.

Lisa - Water parks are so much fun, you don't know what you are missing!!!! Besides the lazy river, they have 3 body slides, a normal swimming pool with a diving board, and a play structure that you can play in and get soaked. So much fun with kids!!!

So you don't have to buy food there, I suggest you pack a cooler and have a picnic there. They have a lot of grassy areas that you can sit on and have a picnic or suntan!!!

Lisa - I agree with Heidi about the cooler. As long as it's not HUGE, they'll let you bring pretty much anything in.

There were so many favorite things, I don't know where to begin. We enjoyed going to all our meals because we had a great time with our tablemates. The adult pool was great hanging out at (my kids were older and mostly running around) We had a great time hanging out at Rockin Bar D & free ice cream at Scoops :teeth:

Hey, the cooler is a great idea! Thanks!

I hope the water isn't too cold...I'm kind of a baby, spoiled by that Carribean water ya' know:)

This will be my first Disney Cruise...was the adult pool crowded all the time, or were you always able to find a chair to sun in?

Lisa.

We just got back last week and I can tell you that the adult pool was probably one of the least crowded places on the entire ship. We only saw two people actually swim in the pool; most people were using the adjacent spas.
The kids pools on the other hand? Mayhem...
As far as chairs, there were plenty available near the adult pool and on the deck above it. We even managed to find chairs by the goofy pool, but it depends on when you go.

Lisa, chairs are hard to come by at the pool but if you go up one deck you will find more. The stairs are right there. Don't stress about the chairs. By the way, check out Deck 4 chairs if you want some down time. Don't forget your over the door shoe holder. Let us know if you go to Pirates Cove. I have never been there.

Teresa, you are so bad. One of your favorite things was Scoops. :rotfl2: Ok, so I have to admit one of my favorite things is choc souffle at Palo's. Why is it always about food?? :confused3

Barb, your mom is so funny. I believe that she would be on my doorstep waiting to scrapbook. She does love to do that. Actually she love to stay busy doing anything!

Hmmm, JrsyBoy, we just crossed posted. Sure wish I was on your cruise. The pool has never been unbearable but what you describe sounds perfect. But trying to get in the hot tubs is always next to impossible.

We even managed to get in the hot tubs at the Goofy pool, but only by paying close attention to when they weren't packed. And it didn't last long. This was on the afternoon of Nassau day. I guess a lot of people were still on shore.

We also went to the Deck 7 Aft verandah to soak up some sun and never saw another soul. In fact, we never saw anyone else whenever we went down there and there were, like, 8 or 10 empty chairs!

With all that is written about the secret verandah here on the boards, you would think that it would be packed with DISers!

Wow, you are all wonderful! Thanks for all the chair tips!

Sandy - We did go to Pirates Cove today...we had sooooo much fun. My kids DS 8 and DD 4 loved it!!! I can't believe how quickly the time went. We'll definitely be doing that again a few times this summer. The place is big enough to keep the kids interested, but intimate enough that I could keep my eyes on them.

Funny side note...It was my first time this season out in a swimsuit...when I first took off my cover-up, I literally felt like I was naked...flashbacks to those bizarre dreams where you show up for school forgetting to put clothes on...at least I hope I'm not the only one who use to have those dreams:)

Lisa.

Lisa - I'm glad you had fun at Pirates Cove!!! Did you pack a picnic? I forgot to tell you that glass is not allowed, so hopefully you didn't pack anything in a glass container!!! Was it very busy?

:rotfl: Lisa, my dreams were that I was wearing my PJ's to school. Hmmm, wonder what a dream analyst would say about yours. :rotfl2: Pirates Cove looks so perfect from Belleview. Not too big and not too small. Glad you enjoyed it. Did you say hi  to DCLCruisers brother? Yea, like you would know which of the many employees he was. :confused3

Pirates Cove was busy at first, but then a thunderstorm came and we were all sent to our cars...we waited it out, and about 1/3 of the people stayed, so it cleared how tremendously.

Yep, I packed a picinic. Thanks so much for the idea! Saved a ton of cash!! And thankfully I didn't pack any glass.

I loved the lazy river thing!

Lisa.

Lisa - I am glad you had fun!!!! Have you ever been to Water World? They have an even better and bigger lazy river (so does Elitches water park)!!!!

The only lazy river I have done is Blizzard Beach in WDW. That is my kind of entertainment! Now those huge scary slides are a different story!

We just got back from Pirate's Cove. pirate: It was really fun. I liked it better than Water World because it is smaller and easier to watch the kids by myself. Also, much, much closer to home. The lazy river was great except I had DS sitting on top of me and he kept holding the handles and rocking us back and forth. Not very relaxing. DD did the big slide once while DS and I waited at the bottom (DS is still too short for it). She said it was scary since she went in the enclosed one and it was dark and really fast. Neither one of them wanted to leave.

We'll probably go to Pirates Cover sometime this week, especially since it's suppose to be in the 90's this week :teeth:

Sandy - We just got back from camping at Shadow Mountain Reservoir. It was very beautiful up there. Did you camp at Green Ridge?

Teresa, that is exactly where we used to camp every weekend. We would always go to the furthest one in.

I will probably never go to Pirates Cove. I don't have any little ones anymore. Poor me!
