Colorado Cruisers

Have you been to the Disney Blowout store at Aspen Grove? It is mostly Disneyland anniversary stuff, but we managed to blow a pretty big wad of cash. It is only open for another week.

I haven't been but there was a coupon for an additional 10% off in the Rocky Mountain News this week.

We walked in there briefly one night, but didn't buy anything surprisingly. We had gone into Ted's for dinner(love that place) and were on the wait list so we had some really cranky, hungry people. We ended up giving up and going over to Noodle's and CO

We went right after eating at Ted's, so we had very full bellies. Maybe happy bellies make you want to buy more. If that is the case, you were wise to go in before eating.

Is that the store down in Castle Rock? Or am I thinking of a different one?

It is on Santa Fe in Littleton at Aspen Grove. Aspen Grove is an open air shopping mall.

So is it really going to snow tonight??

Well, drats! I was down that way today. I don't get there often, too far south for me. I was dropping off my quilts at a friend's home for delivery to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum's upcoming exhibit called Aloha: Hawaiian Quilts. It will be featuring our quilt group's quilts. We are called the Haole Connection and we make Hawaiian quilts. :cheer2:

The exhibit runs from March 28th through June 3rd, and you can get more info at http://www.rmqm.org/html/exhibits.html. At least check out the website...the picture they feature is my quilt. Sadly, it will not make the journey; I gave it to my husband as a gift, and if I took it off the bed for the next three months, his head would explode.  The walls of my house are now blindingly white where the quilts have been temporarily removed.

Is the red and white one yours? It is really pretty! You are very talented. I can barely sew a button back on... I used to love to watch my great-grandmother quilting. She had a big quiliting rack that came down from the ceiling in her spare bedroom......

It is mine  My mom and grandma sewed, but didn't quilt. I learned to sew at age 7, but I didn't start quilting until I was an adult. I can't deal with the frame thing, it takes up too much space. I use a hoop and take my quilt projects with me. It makes a nice break at work. If you like, you can check out some of our quilts at www.haoleconnection.net. Click on gallery. Enjoy!

Sheez, you would think that it is springtime in the Rockies or something. Too nice to sit inside at the computer!!

RTD is on strike and I still made it to work! What a way to start a Monday...

Jrsy - did you have to drive or carpool? What a bummer Monday for you to wake up to that. I really didn't think they would strike. Hopefully the lightrail will be up and running on Saturday night, I am supose to go dowtown with my friend and we plan on taking the light rail.

DW saw the headline in the paper and woke me up so she could drive me before DS had to get to school. I was at work about an hour earlier than usual. My FIL works downtown, too, though, so I am going to be catching a ride in with him in the mornings. Still working on my strategy for getting home.

I hope you made it home last night!!!!! Looks like you will have to get a ride for a few more days.

RTD sucks.

On the up side, I booked the August repo cruise from Barcelona to Florida this morning! Hooray! We're going to Europe!

I made it home riding a VERY crowded bus and have never wanted to wash my hands more than I did after that! Working on catching a carpool home today.

That rocks! How exciting!

Hey guys! I got my airfare for my September cruise. AA is having some good fares right now, just wanted to let you know in case anyone's looking for them!

Thanks BlackUnicorn. I noticed that too and bought my tickets yesterday for $192/person roundtrip. I checked again this morning and the exact same flights went up to $329.

My daughter just flew on American Airlines on a school trip to the east coast last week, and after the trip from hell and the way the group was treated by the airlines, I am done doing business with them for good.

This group of 10 year old kids was booked on connecting flights in both directions by the travel planner, World Strides (first mistake). The flight itself went smoothly, but the airlines left one of the kids' bags in Chicago and didn't return it to her for three days. The trip was for five days. World Strides only allows the kids to bring one bag, so absolutely everything was in it. American Airlines refused to make any compensation for the "inconvenience". The agent actually hung up on the group leader.

On the return trip, the flight in Dulles was delayed by an hour and a half due to mechanical difficulties. The flight attendants on the plane refused to call ahead and hold the plane for the five minutes they needed to catch the LAST flight from Dallas to Denver that night. They actually didn't miss the plane, but the doors were closed and the airline employees refused to open them and let this group of ten-year-old children and adult chaperones board. At 10:52pm they were told they would be on the first flight out in the morning, 7:30-ish and they would be bussed to a hotel for the remainder of the night. They sat on the curb for two hours waiting for the bus, even with repeated phone calls to the airlines. Now it's after 1am. The kids were able to sleep for about three hours, but no one was really rested at all. When they tried to board the bus to the airport the next morning, they were told it was full. American Airlines told them to find their own way to the airport. The group leader paid for a cab out of her own pocket, the kids had McDonald's out of whatever souvenir money they had left. World Strides assured everybody that everything was included in the tour price, and souvenir money was optional. When the leader asked to be reimbursed for the cab fare, she was told that they weren't going to do that; she asked to speak with a supervisor, and they told her one was not available nearby, and she was in the wrong terminal and if she didn't hurry, she'd miss the flight. She opted to get the kids home, and they arrived safely, albeit tired and hungry. We went to pick up the bags at the carousel, and after waiting until everything was off, only one bag came up. My DH went over to the baggage claim office, and there they were in the back room. The luggage somehow was unloaded from the original flight and loaded onto the flight that they wouldn't let the kids board! :furious:

American made no effort to make anything right for all the things that were entirely THEIR FAULT. No food, no upgrade on a future flight, no allowance for the lost bag, no apology, nothing but rudeness.

So, fly American at your own risk.

Wow DV, that is horrible customer service from AA. I have never had a problem with AA (knock on wood) but now with your experience and my BIL's experience I am now nervous. AFTER I bought the tickets on AA my BIL flew out to TX with AA and the plane was delayed 1 hour in Denver and the connecting flight in TX was completely cancelled and they would have had to wait until 10 hours later to get another flight. My BIL and his coworkers decided to by tickets on Southwest. We will see how his flight back is tomorrow. I am praying I get the same service I have had in the past with AA because I convinced my mom and dad to book this one at the great deal and they usually fly Frontier.
