Does anyone have a color laser printer? How are they compared to ink jets? I've read they don't do photos well, but what about just reports and graphs and things like that. I've always had a black and white laser and like the crispness of the print, but I need something that offers me options to sometimes print in color. I'm trying to decide between color laser and inkjet.

I have an HP2600n which is a color laser jet network printer. It's been replaced with a new model now. It's proven to be worth the money between my work and two teenagers printing. Quality is the same as BW and works 100% the same as your current laserjet. It can print pictures with a nice look but I have not had huge success with photo paper seems to gum up the work s a bit but again that could be with the model I have.

Pros: One stop printing for reports, fliers etc; my is network so all computers in the house can use this one printer; pretty darn fast; huge paper tray

cons: Can't be used for special items like iron on transfers; limited photo paper

Toner: Expensive yes but I didn't replace the cartridges for two years!!

I just ditched our Epson ink printer for an HP CP1518ni. It is highly regarded in text and graphics for the price point. I think text looks amazing and color is very decent. It wouldn't replace a very high quality ink jet for photos using photo paper, but is very high quality for anything that would require color. Things like business presentations, graphs, web graphics all look great. Basically don't try to print a picture for a 5 x 7, it wouldn't look good enough to frame.

I was tired of burning through color ink cartridges because we print so infrequently they would dry out.

We had an HP that my husband used for business. It worked great for his business applications, but I hated it for any pictures and creative stuff. The toner was VERY expensive then we had to replace another part which I can't remember the name of but it was just as expensive as the printer was. We also tried to get some remanufactured toner and had gotten a couple bad ones that left lines on the prints so there was no savings in the long run.

After all of that we switched back to a high quality inkjet which I think is easier to control.
