Hi,

I read on another thread about getting your child a "color job" with "pixie dust" at the MSBS...is this still done?

Anyone have the price, or how long it takes?

My six-year-old would so dig this!

Thanks!

Becky

This is included in the price of the cut-$12. After the cut they can choose from red, green, or blue gel and then little mickey heads are sprinkled over their hair(pixie dust). This last part takes about 5 mins. My DS was so cute last year, every time he bent over he lost a little more pixie dust and he was forever picking them up and putting them back in his hair.

And if you don't want a haircut, they will still color your hair if you want.

I've taken my DS twice now, and each time his brother would get pixie dusted too for no charge. Of course we always give them a big tip!

One note, when you do take a shower and try to get it off, it will take some time, and it does harden your hair. On the other hand, it lasts for many days, provided you don't get rained on!

How Cute!!!!

Do they have anything available for little girls?

I may be wrong but last year DS6 had his hair done and I thought I remembered her offering him a bunch of colors to choose from (glow-in-the-dark, purple, etc...) I'm pretty sure I saw pink in with them too. The pixie dust is in a variety of colors so that's gender-neutral. They use stuff that smells a lot like elmer's glue to make it all stick. It takes about an hour to dry completely (they say 30 minutes but DS was still sticky)

It's a lot of fun. We washed it out after the second full day - DH scrubbed and it took about 3 shampoos for it to be completely gone. Make sure you're careful when rinsing so the pixie dust doesn't end up clogging the drain!

We're doing it again this year!

sometimes, they'll even make a mickey head on the back of your head.

If it's a baby's first haircut, they'll make such a big production out of it, complete with a mickey ears hat.

What's really great with this whole thing is the number of compliments and oohs and aahs that you get, not just from CMs but also from other guests who don't know about it. You'll really get noticed by the CMs and even the characters.

My 3 and 6 YO DD's got the cut, color and pixie dust last October.
They were thrilled!
BTW, The color just washes right out of any fabric it touches. My DD's wanted to get their hair done the first day of our 10 day trip and the laundry sat for at least 12 days before it got washed out and no hint of a stain.

We did this last year too; I learned about it from these great boards! I believe a haircut was $12 and there are often lines. There are only 2 barbers working at a time, so it can be slow. We went midafternoon, after the parade and we waited probably 45 minutes and had 3-4 people in front of us (all were men so the cuts didn't take too long). They do a great, great job, have lots of fun with you and the pixie dust treatment is just so fun for the kids. My 5 year old thought he was just soooo cool and got so many comments and praise from CM's and other guests as we toured Epcot that evening. :D

Our DGD (3 yrs old) has hair down past her waist and we would get shot if we cut it. Our DD and SIL are allowing us to "borrow" her for a week and we don't want to do anything to loose our privileges! LOL!!! Could we have them do an updo with the pixie dust or are they strictly barbers and there to do haircuts?

I'm 26 and I had it done when I went in January. I got the Mickey head and everything. It's really a whole lot of fun. I even ran into people later in my vacation who remembered me as the guy with crazy hair :) Instead of getting pixie dust, the barber told me that tinker-bell threw up on my head. :earseek:

My 12 year old Ds had it done last year. She spiked his hair and asked what color he wanted. Since orange is our school color, he said orange. She mixed up some orange, painted a mickey on the back of his head, painted his spikes all orange and pixie dusted him! She also offered our other DS some pixie dust, but he wears his baseball cap all the time so he said no. :( Oldest DS looked so cool and got lots of attention everywhere we went. (this was the day we left for our DCL cruise, so he had to shower it out before going in the pool onboard!) Very cool!

MY DD is15 she got her hair done in FEB they used blue and green i got mine done also they used pink and people will stop you and ask you where you got it done::MickeyMo

took my dd in Dec. She got glow green gel and the woman did her hair with Mickey clips and pixie dust - no cut - She charged us $5- for the clips, no charge for everything else - we also left a huge tip!

Where exactly is this at? MK Main Street?

As you enter Main Street, veer left, past City Hall, past Fire Station and it's right in front of you. Look for the barber pole.

DH got a haircut there a couple of years ago (and it was a very good cut!). I made fun of him for thinking that adults went there, and even said this when I walked in with him. The barber and several other adult men just stared at me. CM's get a discount and go here. DH and I both got pixie dusted. (no gel)

Brikate, thanks for sharing those cute photos! (What gorgeous eyes he has!)

Thanks so much for posting the photos. Your son is absolutely adorable!!! He's gonna be a lady killer!!!
