We will drive down the 27th, meet up with abckid (who's been posting lately, I've known her for years) sometime that day and be there for part of Sunday. We can exchange numbers and see what we can work out.

Very cute! I don't have a pin maker so I couldn't do that anyway. That would be very cute on the backpack.

I'm not sure if they still have them because I haven't looked lately, but a while back I bought some buttons like these at either Craft Mart or Michaels. They weren't the nice metal ones like the ones pictured above (like the kind from a button maker), but they turned out great. They were circular clear plastic with a front piece, and a back piece with the pin attached. You cut out what you want and place it inside and then push the back piece on. They had 2 sizes that you could choose from. I never thought of making LGMH pins and I love the idea! I think I will try and find those buttons in the store again and make some for our next trip.

I hope that they have them at a Michael's near you. They are really fun to make. I first used them at a competition that my DS was in. Parents had a picture of their child and wrote something like 'Good Luck" on them. You can use them to make birthday badges, good luck badges, etc. I can't wait to make some Disney ones. I never thought of doing that until I saw the post with the beautiful Disney buttons!

Oh yeah I think I've seen those, I'm going to Michael's tomorrow so I'll have a closer look, something like that is probably more kid friendly. I wanted the traditional button look so that's why I went with a button maker. I bought the $29.95 starter kit from: http://www.badgeaminit.com/

I shopped around and it was the least expensive maker I could find, I bought additional button parts from eBay. The maker is just a bunch of plastic rings that you press together, here's a YouTube video of a kid making a button (there's additional videos too):

Hi, there's a few listings on eBay for additional button parts which include the 2 metal backings and the plastic disc covers that go on top. You can find bulk quantities starting from enough parts to make 100 buttons, to 1000 buttons.

Including shipping I paid about $20-22 for 100 button parts (size 2 1/4), which I see is still available on eBay.

There's also button makers on there so if you're considering buying one check eBay first in case there's a better deal, but the $29.95 starter kit (hand press) from the Badge-a-minit website was the lowest price I found - that kit will include enough parts to make 10 buttons.

Badge-a-minit has a lifetime guarantee on their button makers as long as you only use Badge-a-minit brand parts. There's several listings on eBay that say their products are Badge-a-minit certified and will not void your warranty. I don't know how true that is, seems hard to believe that Badge-a-minit would go for that. The plastic rings from the video are thick and very tough, would take a lot to damage them. The hand vise that you use for the final compression seems like the only element that could be damaged but it too is tough.

The generic parts I bought seem okay, haven't noticed any issues, producing the same results as the parts that came with the kit. Hope this helps, didn't mean to type so much !

I second that. We're going on a Disney Cruise in December and these will make great luggage tags, plus I'll make some more to put on our back packs for when we go to Disneyland.

For laminating, clear contact paper works really well and its super cheap. I think I paid $5 for mine, and I still haven't used the whole thing and its been years, lol. Its by the shelf paper (you know, for the insides of kitchen cabinets?). Even my local grocery store had some int he kitchen/home aisle, but Walmart for sure has it.

We'll be at Disneyland too in December. Sometime between 1st and 6th - we have a 4 day hopper pass. Look out for the lime green Mickey ears bag tags on our backpacks. We'll be looking out for anything green, too.
