Color Chip To Wear??

lgmhfordltrips.jpg

there you go this is how I make mine. I use card stock and self laminators!!

This is similar to what I use :)

I guess I might as well post the pictures again for anyone who's interested in seeing what I did. I laminated it and hung it on my bag.

This is sooo cute. I'm not nearly that creative. I love this.

I absolutely love yours! I've wanted to try and do mine on the printer but ours is really bad quality and I know it would never work. I just really want to be able to have the Disney script on there for my screen name.

This is what mine looks like (I wrote DIS on the other side):

Very well done. :) I like the beads added. :)

Not to promote my pin, but wouldn't a pin be easier and more convenient than the Home Depot chip? I recently started making my own pins to wear on my Disneyland trips, one of them is a LGM head pictured below. The material is lime green adhesive vinyl placed on a white paper background - there is clear plastic mylar on top. I've worn the Disboard pin on 3 different trips, and have not been approached :sad1:. Not that I was expecting anything, just curious to see if anyone would comment .

I love your buttons. They would certainly catch my eye in the parks, and the lime-green Mickey head would be a great tip-off. :thumbsup2

You guys did great on these. :)

That looks like the same file I got from here sometime awhile back too. I have no idea either who posted it but it's a great template. I took it in photoshop and changed the color a little bit though because I have an aversion to that color of "computer green" and I wanted it less flourescent and more lime. I also put a different design on the back and put my screen name on it. I recently added 2 more "real" paint chip ones to make my LGMHs stand out more.

This is adorable! I have a Mickey head punch, I'm thinking I can make my own from cardstock, might do this today!

Thanks! Yeah, a mickey head punch is a great idea. I have a small one that I was going to use to make little LGMHs to hang off of ribbon or something but I never got it completely figured out. I was wishing I had a bigger one but didn't want to spend more money to get one. Post a picture of yours when you get it done!

So do you all write your user name on them? I'm going to try to get some today actually.

Mine has my screen name on it. I've seen them both way. Actually, I've never seen one in the parks :sad2: but I've seen pics people posted and some put their Dis board names and some don't.

This might be a dumb question, but do you need a laminating machine to laminate it? I'll be in Disneyland (hopefully!) sometime between July 16-July 22 and would love to see some LGMHs!

I bought laminating sheets at Staples. It's like a big clear sticker that you put on both sides. I know some people used packing tape but i think it isn't quite big enough to cover so you have to use 2 pieces. Either one works, it just depends on how "perfect" you want it to look.

You can also try going to an office supply store with a printing center like an Office Max, Office Depot, Staples. You can try Kinko's but the other stores are usually a lot cheaper. Anyway, their printing center can laminate for you. Whenever I need to have anything laminated I go to Office Max and I usually get charged a buck or less - well never exceeds $2.00. You can print at home (or there) and fit several heads on one sheet, they'll laminate the sheet and all you'll need to do is cut them out. Might be less expensive than buying your own laminating sheets so check in with the printing center first.

I'm considering selling my pin with additional LGMH decals on eBay for those who don't have the resources, or could use a little creative help :artist: .

Thanks guys! Guess I'll be walking to Staples tomorrow. I wonder if they're going to look at me weird for getting a mickey head laminated? :lmao:

I should look into getting my new ones laminated somewhere else, it does sound like it would be cheaper. In a perfect world, they'd say "not another one of these" ... so I could find another DIS'er in my town :rotfl2:

Haha! That would be pretty amazing. I'm super excited to go get my paint chip from Home Depot. My best friend/travel companion thinks I'm a huge nerd, but I hope to see another DISer in the park! (only 17 more days! Hooray!)

thats so cute! how did you get the mickey's "outfit" one?

Thanks! I made the outfit on the computer. I used the template that someone else posted and brought it into photoshop. Then I changed the green color to be more lime and less flourescent and added my screen name. For the mickey clothes I selected slightly less than half of the mickey head and colored it red and added 2 yellow ovals and then colored the top part black.

You could do the same thing with mickey heads from home depot (or with colored card stock). Just get a black mickey head (i'm assuming they sell black disney paint?) and a red one from HD and cut the red one and paste it on. Then you can add yellow ovals or to make it easier, you could use a regular hole punch to punch yellow paper and use circles for the buttons.

Home Depot doesn't have every Disney paint color in those Mickey Heads. They also have regular paint chip cards for most of their colors. So they may not have those red and black in Mickey Heads. :confused3 I suppose if you didn't want to use the computer you and they didn't have heads in those colors, you could trace the heat on to colored paper and use that.

Love the pin! Love all the pictures posted, but that pin especially.

This probably won't help anyone, but it was good info for me...the paint is Behr brand, so go to the Behr/Disney area. I don't know why just the "disney" paint knowledge wasn't enough for me, but it wasn't, and so I pass that along.

Oh, and I've only been approached by ONE person (well, one couple) who saw my LMGH and knew what it was. In all these trips! So don't despair if no one mentions it...after all, no one is really looking at purses or backpacks, except for the person in front of you in a line, so unless you have it on a hat or shirt, and BIG, it's hard to notice. I've never noticed any on a stranger!

I've seen them once or twice, mentioned it both times (must have been twice lol) and nothing major happened. lol They just kinda said "oh ya, I'm a Disser" and that was it. I don't know, I was hoping for more I guess.

They DO have black & red Mickey swatches, I have some of those too, as well as purples, blues, and other colors....lol

Well, if you say hi to me, I promise to show more interest. :rotfl:

When we went in March, it was noticed by a lot of CM's, but ony one other Disser spotted me (other than a gal we had planend to meet up with beforehand). I felt so bad because it was right as we were leaving the HoJo and dealing with car troubles so I was in a really grouchy mood. Hope to see some more people when I go in September!!
