College

Well the first night was alright. I kept on waking up once every hour because it was so hot in my dorm room, but I think that it won't be as hot tonight so that's good.

I start marching band practice today :)

Everyone's dorms are SO cute!

Gahhh I start school in a week. :/
This summer went by too quickly.

So the first part of marching band camp was great. We had a fun little introductory thing, and then we went and practiced before having lunch. Overall I think it'll be a great season.

I love everyone's dorms!! So cute!
I'm all moved in now, just settling down and getting everything organized and put away. I'll post pics tomorrow! :)

Lovely dorms everyone!
I have a list made up of college's i am applying for

Loyola University
Towson University
University of Central Florida
University of South Florida
University of Maryland

Have a nice week of classes everyone. I still have one week of summer left!

Everyone's dorms are very cute!

My friends and I are completely on top of getting our appliactions done, unfortunately our counselors are not so on track with us so we're frustrated.

I'm planning on going to ungraduate school to major in english with literary studies with a minor in history and then transfer to a graduate school to get a master in library science. I really hope to get a good job at a larger public library! Our high school classes are so overwhelming this year so we're trying to get everything done as quickly as we can so we can focus on our grades and have fun!

I can't wait to go to college.
I already survived dorm rooms with no A/C! Bring it on! xD

That's definitely the right way to do college applications! Get them done early and enjoy your senior year.

BTW, my mom did exactly what you're thinking about doing: she got a bachelors degree in English, then got her masters in library science. She originally intended to teach with the English degree, but my dad was in the Navy and she couldn't find a job where he was stationed, so she went back to school to get her masters. Now she's the director of a library at a medical university.

There's no focus, it's just a general 300 level Shakespeare course. I had to take Shakespeare or a Chaucer course...and Chaucer isn't my favorite..lol. I read an excerpt of one his works in high school, and I was so bored. I hated it.

And as for my creative writing, I'm excited for it. I do love to write for fun, but I'm just nervous about the workload. My two edu courses I have to write units and make up projects that I would use in a classroom. They are veryyyy time consuming, as you probably know.

All I know is that I will be spending every night in the library this semester..lol

Oh, I know how time consuming they are all too well lol. It's not that they are terribly difficult either...they just take FOREVER to plan, write-up, and organize. I'll be teaching a few classes this coming semester so I'll be doing a lot of lesson-plans and unit projects. YAY for being ed. majors :P

And I love Chaucer, but I love Shakespeare more so good choice :thumbsup2 hahaha.

That's great, it's very reassuring knowing that I'm not the only one wanting to do the same thing! I'm so glad that it actually worked out, because I'm so afraid that I will get everything and never get a job or actually be able to do it.

If anyone could help, I have to write an essay for an application and it asks why I picked that college. Of course I don't want to just say everything that their website says, because they obviously know. I'm not sure how to go about writing this, I'm thinking about writing about what I want to do with my english degree and how the college will help me achieve my goals. Does that sound like a good way to go about it?

Also atm, I only have 3 colleges that I'm applying to because those are the only ones I'm actually considering. One of them I probably won't go to because it's too far and I don't think I could live in dorms. There are only about 2 colleges in our area that I would go to, but I'm afraid 3 really isn't enough colleges to apply to. But then I think, if those are the only ones I like, why not? I meet all the requirements and I'm 99% sure I will get into my #1 pick. My friends are going away and they are applying to so many colleges so I guess I just feel like a loser for only having 3.

I MOVE IN THURSDAY MORNING! but it will be Sunday/Monday before I get photos up because my roommate doesn't move in until Sunday sometime.

but y'all have really cute rooms! I hope mine is as awesome.

I just had to change my schedule after the purge. It was SO stressful. I spent twenty minutes refreshing my school's website trying to get into the add/drop section. But ONE seat in the class I wanted got purged so I was able to get in! I have the perfect schedule now.

Everyone's dorms are very nicely done!
While I'm not in college yet, I am going on a college tour next summer. We're going to visit UBC, University of Alberta, McMaster University, University of Toronto, and Queen's University.
Have a great year everyone!

Day four of marching band camp is complete. We have done so much! My feet are so sore, because we had to march from, 2:30 to 5 learning the show in 90+ degree weather. (it is a full day though from 8:30-7:30 of various activities, I just got back to my dorm) I'm currently going to be working on memorizing the pre-game show since I have the first show pretty much memorized. We did the first half of the first song of the first show today, and it was a lot of work.

The funniest part is the sousas. They are so... how to put it... hyper. They spent every rest minute playing frisbee or football when the rest of us were exhausted. And they jam out to every song, which is equally awesome. I don't know how they do it!

I'm glad I put on sunscreen today though :)

I moved in tonight.

I drove 200 miles this morning (4 and a half hours with a stop), filled out some paperwork to get my parking permit, never actually got my permit because I was too tired to drive my car over to public safety, left my school ID at public safety (will pick it up tomorrow when I get my sticker...), killed a few hours in the car saving my parking spot, moved in, found out an entire bottle of Febreeze spilled in my trunk (only ruined one really old pair of shoes that I probably should've thrown out years ago...) and I forgot my contact solution. Oh well, I can clean my lenses using disinfectant and my car now smells really nice. Other than that, no issues.

Our band camp was last week, but it was 105 degrees during our rehearsal on Monday at 4:30pm. Since it isn't band camp, the rehearsal was only 2 hours, but we were all almost dead. It was horrible!! Today, it was only about 85 with a nice breeze which was wonderful! Definitely much better than 105. Unfortunately, the regular temps. won't get into the 80's regularly for another few weeks. Marching in 95-100 degree weather sucks.

It is only yesterday and today though that the temps are so hot. At least there's a breeze, and we do have breaks. But my feet sure are sore! This first week we actually get to rehearse in the stadium, which is so cool. I had never been in this stadium before, and getting to be on the field is awesome! Tomorrow it should cool down... the high is only 71 compared to 95! And Saturday and Sunday the temps are 69 and 60!!! (although there is no marching band camp then).

I'm jealous. Our temps don't get that low (consistently) until October. Marching in the stadium is fun - we did it for a little bit on Saturday. It's fun to experience the stadium when it's quiet and not full of 85,000 fans! :rotfl: Our fist game is the 4th, so I'm getting really excited. I'm so ready for football season!
