What would you like to major in? Nursing.
What college do you want to go to? Anyone I can afford.
What kind of degree do you want (associate, bachelors, etc)? I'm going to definitely get my Bachelors of Science, but I might continue on for my Masters because more hospitals will hire you if you have a Masters. Plus, after many years on a nursing floor, you're eligible for a Nurse Manager position. I plan on doing that after I reach 45+, because I'll probably not be in the physical shape to be running around all day like a standard nurse.
What are you most looking forward to at college? Getting into the real world. And then finishing school. I've had enough of this "school" thing.
When will you be going/Are you already enrolled? Sophie in HS, I'm just beginning to look at colleges next year.
Are you nervous? Not at all. My philosophy is "Get in, learn, get out". Any friends I make along the way is great, but I want to be finished with school ASAP!

I'm thinking something related to media studies. Not sure yet, but I know Ryerson has a good program there for that type of thing.

Anyways, I won't be starting till the year of 2011/2012.

What was your first day like? Terrifying!! lol

University is pretty crazy. TONS of work--which sucks for me because I procrastinate too much. But I have yet to fail anything so I'm all good. Looking forward to my next semester because I've planned to be more organized. I still live at home and go to a local university, so I don't have to freedom to party and go out whenever I want--which I think is good for me or else I'd NEVER get my work done!! lol

Hilary--if you want to do media you should definitely apply to Ryerson...I have a bunch of friends who go there for Media Arts and love it!

What's your favorite class? My favorite class was my educational foundations class, which is a requirement for being a teacher. It was sort of an intro to the education field. Very fun, GREAT proff.
What's your favorite thing about college? The freedom to do what you want when you want. The people are amazing too. All in all a good experience.
How does it compare to high school? It's very different. No one is breathing down your neck, it's all up to you to get everything done, and go to classes. Most proffs. don't take attendance so a lot of kids slack off and get in trouble. You have to take responsibility for yourself inside the classroom and especially outside of the classes.
What was your first day like?It was overwhelming. But after that it's been really amazing.
I'm going to a school in upstate New York, about 8 hours from my house on Long Island. So being so far away was really hard at first. But now I am on a 6 1/2 week winter break and I miss my college family! College is a great experience but you need to not go over board with the partying and you need to go to your classes or else when your grades come out you're basically screwed. I am so proud of myself for sticking through my first semester and working really hard, and I have really good grades to show for it. So just remember that when you get all this new found freedom. I've seen kids on my dorm floor getting arrested and going to the hospital for too much partying. So my rant is now over, be smart guys.
Oh and I'm majoring in English Education.
But you don't have to know what you want to do right now. Most colleges have a TON on general education requirements that you have to fill. I've already changed my major once, fro music education to English education. So don't worry about changing your major, just find what you love!

Good luck to all those applying now! Don't stress too much!

What would you like to major in? Anthropology with a minor in french and a teaching certificate.
What college do you want to go to? Carleton College, UNH, Princeton University or UOregon.
What kind of degree do you want (associate, bachelors, etc)? To start, my bachelor's, but I'd like to work my way up to my doctorate.
What are you most looking forward to at college? Freedom.
When will you be going/Are you already enrolled? Fall 2009.
Are you nervous? A little, yeah.

That's great to hear Caitlin. I remember going through some stuff on Much Music and most of the people who work there have been through a media studies course at Ryerson.
Not only does it look like an awesome school, it's in Toronto (I have issues with going to a school in the middle of nowhere, which basically every university in the Maritimes is) and I can apply for DCP there too.

What's your favorite class? - Vector Calculus - Super hard, but very rewarding!

What's your favorite thing about college? - Living away from home and having a new set of friends!

How does it compare to high school? - Lots more freedom. Lot less cattyness, no cliques. Work it ALOT harder. Finals are more serious.

What was your first day like? - Really scary. I didn't know where I couple of my classes were and it totally freaked me out! But, I got thru it a-ok!
