college textbooks

Boy do I ever remember those days. My textbooks ran me anywhere from $250-750 per semester when I was in college. It was always worse when I had a heavy semester of Accounting classes (my major). Those textbooks always ran me around $100 a pop! Sorry to hear things haven't changed.

My school has a web for book exchange. I usually sell the current one and use the money to buy the next one. All I usually have to pay is a few $ extra and the postage. How's that for book recycling?

I withdrew from Bio lab (5 classes are too much right now!) and returned my book today. There was a guy in the line next to me who wanted to sell his book from last semester back. It came up as $12. The cashier told him that if he waits until November it will probably be around 50% of what he paid. The poor guy took the $12 because he needed to put it towards a book for a class he's now in. They get you coming and going!

Pin Wizard,
I had to cover my books in brown paper bags as well:teeth:
what is your major? The only classes that I had to have 5 books were history classes

Elementary Ed. I just spoke with DS's teacher last night. I'll be helping out in reading lab and possibly art. Reading lab I'm excited about. Art? I can't draw stick people. But I'll take all the volunteer hours I can get. :teeth:

Pin Wizard,
I am also majoring in elementary ed(social studies major and early childhood minor) I already have a bachelor degree in psychology so i'm a post bachelor student trying to get in the post bachelor teacher certification program. I'm not in the program
yet because I have to pass the math portion of the state basic skills test and Math for elementary teachers.

Math...not my strong subject in the past. I'm hoping I'm better now! LOL! :p Right now PREalgebra is one of the classes I'm taking.
