Hello everyone! I know right now applications are out now for Fall/Fall Advantage 2013! I did my DCP Fall of 2011 and loved it! I was a Jungle Cruise skipper and also I am now a Campus Rep for my college! So if you have any questions about the application process, web based and phone interview or just general questions on the DCP. Just let me know! I will happily answer!

Yay for you first thread! Great job! I wish I had done the CP when I was in college, but I didn't think I could with my major... Sigh. I wish I could do it as an adult!
(I followed you over here from the twitter... Same screen name!)

I had so much fun I loved it! I am a tourism major so it was perfect for me, but I knew many people who did it that where different majors! I am just ready to go back and work for them for good finally!! princess:

Ah Jungle Cruise. My son is an acting major and would love that...however he got his offer yesterday for custodial. Sadly I don't think he is going to accept :-(

I've got my phone interview for my second CP coming up this week, after working a different boat ride in Fall 2012. Any tips for becoming a JC skipper, in terms of what to emphasize in an interview or anything like that? Do you have to be an acting major or have comedy experience?

Hey Sarah!

Since I know spieling roles are quite rare for DCP's, how did you manage to receive such a role?

What was your favourite/most memorable time as a skipper?

If you had any advice for someone wanting to do Attractions, or a Spieling Role, what would you say?

Thanks, and Have a Magical Day! :smickey:

My roommate was custodial and honestly had the time of her life! She worked at Magic Kingdom! Regardless on the position honestly it was the greatest experience! There are so many benefits with the program regardless on the role! If he did accept he then can always do another program later on or even try to become seasonal at a different job or extend where you may get a choice for a different role! :)

No you don't need to have that experience! I'm a tourism major and got it. It's funny because on my phone interview I actually emphasized on working at Haunted Mansion! That was my dream job for there! It was also where you still were able to request your work place to the dcp email where I just requested Magic Kingdom. I guess you can say I just really got lucky because it turned out to be amazing! I would maybe talk about how much you love JC and would love to get an opportunity to work at such an amazing location! I hope this helps a bit! :)

I just got really lucky! I believe during my program there was about 20-30 other college programmers so it was nice.

I had so many favorite memories because just making a guest day made my day but my top two would be having two younger girls love my cruises so much they came back and just rode my boat and took a photo with me! Also having Make A Wish families ride my boat and making them smile and making their days that was an amazing feeling!

For advice I would for sure emphasize how much you would love to work at a ride like this because they are your all time favorites! With spieling roles they are more easy than many think. I was terrified of finding out that I was Jungle Cruise but after a while I realized it was not bad and it was actually quite amazing! I know many would love to work at JC, GMR, and Safari. Honestly it is hard to give that exact advice to get a job at one because many love these rides but for sure letting them know how much you love them and want to work at them! Say you don't get at one and on the DCP you can either extend where you may be offered a different role, go seasonal where you can try to get a different location as a spieling ride or doing another program. If its for a part time or full and you don't get one you can always request a transfer there! :) I hope this answers all your questions!

Talked to him earlier and he is going to go ahead and accept...Also going to go to Character auditions, so maybe he can pull that off :)

That's awesome! And for sure! Character auditions are always fun and I know people who love being "friends" with a character! :D

My dd was down in WDW last June, graduation trip with two other Disney nut girlfriends. One of the people she met there was doing the CP and was in custodial. They had a ball. This young man said custodial at WDW was better than a job outside of WDW...so, perhaps your ds will find that to be true.

When my dd was looking at colleges, we had one tour guide that went into the whole DCP thing....turns out he did that the previous year!!! When I asked him what he had done there? JC skipper!! Had a ball.

My dd is a freshman theatre major. Her big goal in life?? Yep, work at WDW, or even DW. She is hoping that in three years, she'll be applying for the CP at this time. And then? If she makes it? She hopes they offer her a job and she'll stay on after the CP ends. Sadly, she's tall. Really tall for the female characters. But, she figures that she would be happy doing just about anything. So, we'll see. I know she's hoping to touch base with a few of her friends that will be there in May when we go down.
Good luck to all of you applying now!!
