Hi all! My husband and I want to do the CP, but have 2 little furbabies (2 dogs! lol) and don't have anyone who could take them in for the amount of time for us so we could live on property in the provided housing... Plus, not sure how we would deal without them, haha! Has anyone had experience living off of property? Any suggestions on areas near by to look at as far as housing goes? Any and all info is appreciated! Thanks so much :)

I only knew one CP who didn't live on property and she was a UCF student and lived on campus. I've always heard they make very few exceptions and that's the only one I ever knew about firsthand.

i'm fairly certain you just have to call them and explain; since you're married AND have pets they're very likely to let you live offsite since your situation is different than the typical CP.

i lived in CP housing my first program and am planning on only living in CP housing this time around for a few months until my friend's lease is up down there and I can move in to an apartment with her. I'm not entirely sure they can deny you....? :confused3

I actually just got a response from someone in the housing department there - we can for sure live off property as long as we show them our marriage license and fill out the right paperwork! I know they have housing if you are married, but since we have no one who can keep our fur kids for that amount of time, finding a place of our own is how it will have to be, lol. Thanks so much for the reply :)!

As long as you can prove you live off site already and have reliable transportation anyone can live off site.

Hey Maggie,
I'm kinda in the same boat. I need to find off-site housing as well. My husband isn't elegible to participate in the program, so disney housing isn't even an option for us. I've just been searching online for an apartment. My only advice for you is that you live in a gated community. Much safer. Right now I'm looking at the Village at Ease Lake. Hope that helps! Let me know if you find anything ese too please.

I lived off-property. My interviewer made it sound like I had very little chance of it being approved, but I requested it in an e-mail after I was accepted and all they did was ask where I'd be staying and they said yes right away. I don't think it's a big deal. I didn't have to prove anything. I really liked being off-property because I live with my boyfriend and it's a way to not be sucked into drama! There are so many apartment complexes right outside of Disney property. Let me know if you have any questions.
