I cant seem to find anything or anyone talking about the learning part of this program. Is it worth it to take the Disney classes down in Florida? Anyone have comments good/bad about the Disney University?

wait a second...... there is a learning part????......oooooooo people do that? hahaha

lol.... ikr, but for real im wondering if registering for classes down there is worth it or it i should just sacrifice the two semesters, i was already told by my school they may transfer some of the classes but wont give me credit on the work.

I would definitely recommend taking some of the classes especially if you will get credit. In my opinion taking some classes and somewhat staying on track is better than taking 2 whole semesters off.

I took Disney Corporate Analysis and I loved it. If you have any interest in working with the company in the future or just the history/inner workings of the company I would recommend taking it. Its really interesting. The prof is super sweet and willing to help you not just in the class but with other things. I know she helped a girl in my class prepare for her PI interview. We had a few papers and one presentation type thing but honestly there wasn't to much homework and none of it was very difficult.

The ACE classes meet once a week from 3-4 hours. I'm not sure about the other ones but I think they meet once a week for like 2 hours. That means that you will spend one of your days off in class. They offer both morning and afternoon sections so you can choose when you want to take them.

So besides the papers and presentations, are there tests as well? Also, do you get a letter grade, or just a pass/fail type of thing?

We did have one final test for Corp Analysis. It was very very easy. She reviewed before and I'm not sure how someone could have not passed it. Its a pass/fail class so you do not recieve a letter grade. I'm not sure if all of the classes are like that or just the Corp Analysis one.

I will have graduated by the time I do the CP.
However I think some of the classes look really interesting.
1) Can I still take classes?
2) Is it worth it to take them, even if they won't "count" for anything?

Definitely! And if you're over homework and stuff you can always take an Exploration Series...the classes are two hours long, once a week and there are no tests/homework...just group discussion. That's my favorite way to learn!:thumbsup2 I took Exploring Guest Service and it was a good way to network--always guest speakers--and a fun class. If I get accepted for Fall 2011 I think I wanna take Exploring Disney Heritage...I think it was full last semester.

And what someone said about the classes being on your day off--not necessarily...they worked around my work schedule. I had class in the morning and went to work a couple hours later.

I took the Exploration Series Disney Heritage class in Spring 2010 and absolutely loved it. We looked at the early history of the company and did some fun group activities and even had a couple of field trips. I highly reccomend it, whether or not you'll get credit for it.

^^Nothing. They're part of the program. You pay $100 when you accept your invitation and that's it! :)

Is it recommended to take a class if you want to do a PI? Does it make your resume look better?

And would two classes be too much? Or is it easier just to take one?

There's no tuition or anything but for some of them they will take the money for materials out of your paychecks. It's usually not much, for Corporat Analysis they took out abut $12 total, spread out over four paychecks. Also, some of the classes require textbooks, which you'll need to buy.

^^Ahhh, I should have clarified...no text/materials for Exploration Series.

My co-worker took 2 classes, but they were both Exploration Series.

I'm planning on doing the CP for Spring 2012, and I'm been debating on whether I should or should not do classes. Since I'm going to transfer to another college, I'll have to talk to my new advisor if they are accepted or not.

I have a question about the classes: Do you apply for the classes as you do your CP application? I there a dress code for the classes? In most pictures I see of the classrooms people are dressed professionally.

I also have a question. Are the classes only open to the college program people or can I take a few if I get into the Cultural Rep. Program? I'm really interested in these!

Unfortunately the Disney International Programs Cultural Representative Program is purely a Work/Cultural Exchange Experience. Participants on this programme are not eligible to enrol in Disney Education Courses.
