College program Housing

There is two housing complexes for the college program- Vista Way and Chatham. I prefer Chatham myself.

Most people would say Chatham because it's bigger, newer, nicer, quieter, and very close to the Commons.

I did, however, stay in Vista Way and I had a nice time. Each complex has it's pros and cons: Vista Way is EXTREMELY CLOSE to Walgreen's, Wendy's, a gas station and convenience store. The buses at Vista Way wait longer before they depart. The laundry facilities are in every building at Vista as opposed to scattered throughout Chatham. Don't know if you consider this a pro or a con: but Vista Way is louder and partly due to the partying environment--although there are parties at both complexes...

It really depends on what you want out of it. But I lived at Vista and survived! :)

I lived at Chatham and it was really nice! Our apartment was HUGE (I had 7 other roomies besides myself). Mickey's Retreat was right across the street, which was very convenient and Public's, the "shrine" and the awesome awesome outlet mall are all within walking distance.

Chatham is just newer, that's all. I have heard good and bad about both. If I went back right now though, I'd probably still stay in Chatham. :thumbsup2

Do you get to choose Chantham or Vista? or are you just assigned a place to live?

what do you guys think about rooming with more people? i know it's cheaper but i hear there are a lot of problems with people bringing alcohol *that are under 21*. i know disney kicks them out immediately if they KNOW, but what can you do if your roomates come in with it and disney doesn't know?

i am hoping i can find some people on here to room with if i get accepted for next fall's advantage program cause 1)i know you all love disney and do the cp for the right reasons and 2)it would be cool to know at least one person before you go down there

I did get to choose which one to live in when I checked in...I don't know if they do that for all check-in's or not. I was there fairly early for the start of my Spring CP.

Well, I am an only child and have never lived in a dorm or anything before, so I just bit the bullet and got 7 roomies. :) I think Disney has pounded it into all the under 21ers heads that if they are caught, they have less than 24 hrs to vacate the property. And those who choose to drink while they're down there and under 21 must not care about getting caught or their job future.

At our presentation last week, our recruiter mentioned that they are trying a matching system of sorts for picking roommates...I don't know too much else about it. The girls that were standing in line around me all through the check-in process were my roomies. And we all turned out just fine :)

i'm just like you, natty. i live at home and i really have little college experience in the social realm :D i'm taking more hours that my univeristy normally allows so i can get most of a semester ahead before disney *i can only get like 2 credits down there* so i'm focused on school for now

i cannot wait. anyone thinking about fall advantage for next year? that would be awesome

I lived in Chatham and loved it. almost all my friends were in vista and they loved that. so it really depends on you and what your tates are.

As far as drinking under 21, don't do it. it is not worth it and if alcohol is found in the Apt. there is the potential for everyone in the Apt. to get the boot. so just don't do it.

I didn't get a choise as to where I got to live and I only had one roomie which worked well for me. he worked nights I worked later nights and rarely saw him.

Hey! Last year I moved out into the dorms and I got stuck with underage party girls that I didn't care for. Unfortuantley there, they couldn't really get kicked out. But I don't think its worth drinking and risking your internship if you are underage (im not anymore).

They are doing a new roomate matching thing where you can answer 4 questions and they pair you up with one other person you can contact before you go. But I think its like a month before you go you find out..and 4 questions dosne't sound to good to me. I did the roomate matching thing for college and it was at least a page of questions and it definately didn't put me in a good room!

I would recommend if you have myspace or facebook to look for groups on there and find ppl arrving your date, or your age and try to find a roomate that way, becuase they do let you sign up online with one ohter person. I did that and that is a big relief for me to not have to worry about! Also the aim chat which is 9pm Eastern, wdwcpfall07 everyday, that is actually where I found her, so try it out!

I'm Aug 13!!Quick service- This is my first CP!

it's good to know they are least trying to match you with good people

oh and by the way--i don't drink so drinking isn't a problem i'd personally be looking at. i meant what can i do if i get stuck with party girls and disney doesn't find out (so they don't get kicked out)

Thats why I'd recommend you try to find one person yourself ahead of time on myspace, etc. Becuase then you can specifically say you are looking for soemeone who is under 21 but will NOT be drinking.

Then at least there will be 2 of you who wont be drinking, and depending on the number of roomates you have, this could discourage them from drinking in your apartment and take it elsewhere. (This is what my roomates last year did) Then the only way it would interfere with you is if they came home real late at night/early morning so drunk that they would wake you up.

Also if your roomates would choose to do underage drinking in your apt, if you shared a room with a non-drinker than you two could always leave together to avoid them.

This will be my first CP so I dont know how things are done there, but there's gotta be a way for you to report underage drinking or that your roomates have alchohol without you getting in trouble for it. I found out about that in the dorms the last week I was there...YA so helpful!!

There does seem to be alot of ppl who act like they are going down there to drink and party and they are underage. I hope that they get kicked out relatviely fast  so that you won't have to worry about it for too long!

yeah, lol. hopefully i can find someone before i get there. right now isn't a key time to look because everyone is getting ready for THIS cp, which is completely understandable :D
