College Program Drop off trip and more

Eek!! I wish I could go see the Jonas Brothers! I am so jealous.

Well me too -- wish you could go! She found out the day before we left to come here that they would be at HOB and she was praying she wouldn't have to work that night and was thrilled that she is off at 3:30 (or 15:30 to you!) and could go. Since I am still nearby I said I would go with her since its DTD and she doesn't know the whole bus set up for getting back to Vista yet -- but she does have the ticket and if she does make a friend who would like to go I told her to just give it to them - my treat! All of her roommates work nights but she will still be meeting all of her new trainees so maybe one of hem will be interested.

Either way though I guess I will be back to Disney that day since I made a reservation in the 5 day mark so no cancelling for me.

I don't mind the Jonas bros but not crazy about standing all that time during their concert.

Liz,

Enjoying your report. We just returned from our family trip to the world very early this morning. Our daughter returns in 17 days for the CP. After reading your report I am really worried about her being there without anybody to help her get around the first few days (store, shopping, shoes, etc). Did you see many others that had to use the disney transportation for all these things? I am excited she is going, but scared to death she'll be 'all alone'. How can she be alone in the world, I know, but, its the mom part of me getting 'sad'.

Oh yes, plenty of CPs use the buses to get around. On all 3 of mine I have had to use them, as I have not had a car with me. So it is definitely doable.

Yes she will have no problem getting where she needs to be via the buses - the thing that would have made it hard for Chloe was the fact no one in her room was "new" and doing all that start up stuff herself. Lots of kids were taking the bus to the housing meeting.

Part of why Chloe chose Vista was being able to walk to Walgreens for much of what she needed - I think that Walgreens has about everything (aside from shoes).

It is exciting but scary too - if you ever want to talk just PM me. Is your daughter flying in? I can't imagine us bringing everything we needed that way - but I hear alot of kids do it.

Joanna,

Thank you so much. I am so worried, sitting here actually crying, worrying about my 'baby'. I must sound like a mess. I am so excited but scared at the same time. I am glad Liz posted some of this info. I have gained so much from your posts over the past months and months and now that it's almost here, I am a wreck. Thanks again. You help alleviate some of my fears. Hope you had a great time on the CP this time and a great birthday (I think I read that recently.)

Liz,

thanks so much. This helps to make mer feel a bit better. Yes, Aubre is flying in (her first solo flight). We have Mears meeting her at the airport (with a little sign with her name, to help her get to the right place). When she moved in to college (it was only 20 miles from home), we took SO much, but with not needing to take cooking/kitchen things, she'll have less to worry about. I've been stock piling boxes, figuring I'll mail down anything she forgets (and show her hour to pack and mail home stuff). I would love to chat with you sometime, thanks for the offer.

Oh don't worry. My mom was the same way before my first program (me and my dad drove down) but she got over it. In fact, I think she is used to it (or getting used to it, anyway). I had a wonderful time on the CP, and I did have a great birthday (thanks for asking).:)
