For those of you who have or will be doing the college program with hopes of getting a PI with the Disney Corp. or a future Disney career, what is/was your Major in college? What area of study would you suggest, if any, that would give someone an advantage or head start?

T.I.A.

Pick a major according to what you enjoy. I'm an ex-cast member and my dd just applied for DCP. For the DCP your current major doesn't matter so much, for a internship there are a wide variety of roles. For a career, do what you enjoy. Disney is a city unto itself, maybe a whole state. Most any job you can imagine, they have - doctors, lawyers, fire fighters, actors, engineers, IT people..... Spend some time looking around disneycareers.com and see what positions they have advertised for. Look at the required education and experience they list.
Good Luck!!

Thanks for your reply DavidH... Great advice. My DD is a college freshman this fall with dreams of doing the DCP. She's technically 'undecided' but I'm hoping she finds her way sooner than later.

Mine is really undecided, but entered the Resort Tourism Management program thinking that would increase her chances of receiving the most credit hours for her DCP. She has to get in first :) She can change majors later when she figures out what she wants to do...

She had asked the same question. "I want to work at Disney, what do I major in?" My original response was "anything you like!"

The actual job part of the DCP is not much really - you sell t-shirts, sell food, sweep up... But, WDW on a resume is priceless. It will open doors. Seeing how Disney operates is huge. For the kids who "get it", it is life changing. I still point with two fingers, pick up trash (that's not mine), and take photos for total strangers.
