Anyone ever have one of their cakes? I'm generally not a fan of ice cream cakes, notably Dairy Queen, but thought maybe these were much better.

I LOVE CSC but I'm not a fan of their cakes. Mainly b/c it has real cake as one of the layers yet has to remain frozen for the icecream layer. Not a fan of frozen cake.
Carvel cakes on the other hand with ice cream and crunchies? LOVE them!!

I grew up craving the baskin robbin cakes so now that I LIVE for CSC I thought for sure the cakes would be so much better. We got one for my DD6 birthday party. Not impressed! We even got rid of part of the cake because we just didn't really like it! Still LIVE for CSC, but not the cakes.

I think it depends on your Cold Stone...I love one for cakes...the other take or leave it.

I also love coldstone. I don't like the "real cake" in the ice cream cake, but it isn't terrible. If you don't like ice cream cakes to begin with, you probably wouldn't like it any better just because it's got the coldstone ice cream.

Don't know what you're looking for...but DD9 requested an ice cream cake for her bday and I'm making one...with ice cream sandwiches, cool whip, crushed up candy bars, etc....lots of different recipes online and VERY yummy!

I LOVE making that cake! It is soooo good!:cool1:

I've enjoyed them--they're not the best thing I've ever eaten, but some are darn good.

My problem is they're just so darn expensive! The little ones go for over $25 out by us!

I agree with pp. Great ice cream, not so great cakes.

We got one for DS's birthday, and like others, we were not that impressed. It was OK, but nowhere near as good as the exhorbitant price suggested!

One thing that really bothered was the icing - he picked Spongebob theme and blue icing was a part of it. That icing permanently stained my napkins, my dishtowels and the sleeve of my shirt where it dragged across when I was cutting the cake - I can only imagine the chemicals in it and what it does to your insides!

Thanks, everybody. I think I'll save my money. My son's 7th birthday is coming up next week, and I'm trying to come up with a cake idea.

I love Coldstone Cakes and so do my kids. Cookie Dough Delirium is our favorite, but we have yet to have one we don't like.

We bought a cookies and cream one for a party once and were very disappointed. It tasted just okay, but looked nothing at all like the picture I had seen in the store. I do like Dairy Queen and Baskin Robbins cakes, but my vote is for the homemade ice cream sandwich cake, too. So Good!

We made one for my dd's last birthday. It was brownie on the bottom, then I softened some icecream and spread it on top. Then we topped that with caramel sauce drizzled over it and some mini chocolate chips. It was DELICIOUS! And not sure if we didn't have it in the freezer long enough or what...but the brownie never completely froze, so it was GOOD.

I'm not a big fan of the carvel type ice cream cake but if you have a Bruster's
near you they are yummy! There is a layer of actual cake and a layer of ice cream. Like Cold Stone they are pricey though.

I got thier pumpkin ice cream pie at Thanksgiving. It was really good!

And the beautiful thing is that it was less than $10. I had a coupon for like $3 or $4 off which helped a lot. I'm always looking at thier cakes and not sure if I would like it or not.

I bought one last month for MIL's b-day. Their cakes are ok in my opinion...a step up from carvel cakes. But my biggest problem is that they are soooo expensive.
