Coin deposit machines

We tend to save all our lose change in a tin for Florida spending money - we wait until we can fill a money bag with the correct amount and then pay it into the BS to get $$$

I've noticed that there are special coin deposit machines in ASDA and Sainsburys now where you just tip your lose change in and it prints a vouchure that you can either use for shopping or exchange for cash at the tills. This would be useful because we have alot of coin bags etc. and the BS won't accept too many at one time - has anyone used them?

I read that they deduct a 'charge' - how much is it?

hey tim, i use the asda hinckley one it saves time going to the bank. the kids love putting the money in and collecting the odd coins it spits back out

I've never used one I must admit but I think they are a great idea. (It's tempting to use a Hyacinth Bouquet phrase here but I'm resisting!)

I use these instead of going to the bank with my loose change. I am more than happy to pay for the machine to count it for me!

As a bank clerk I do wonder why people bring in £200.00 worth of pennies. We weigh the bag and as a rule none of them are for the correct amount! This causes alot of hassle for the bank and customers just get frustrated with us. I would much rather use a coin machine in my own time rather then queue carrying a very very heavy bag.

We tend to go once a year an empty the coin jar out.

The %age rate is right and you can donate the whole lot to charity if you wish.
