Coffeemakers

I keep chuckling every time I remember 'dirty sock water.'

OTOH, the coffee in Palo & Remy/Enchante is divine

Our server in Palo explained that to us once. In Palo & Remy/Enchante (and room service) they are able to pull a new pot whenever it is ordered and allow the pot to fully finish. In the MDRs they are having to pull so quickly because of demand it's not quite able to completely finish brewing. And that is almost certainly what happens at the on-deck coffee brewers.

It's probably the one upgrade I'd like to seefor the staterooms...Keurig machines.

I just hate the idea that I'm gonna leave my room in the morning while my wife is sleeping and cross the ship and go up an elevator or stairs to get to the 11th deck just to get hot water and take it back to my room for my french press. Someone suggested that I ask for hot water in a carafe the night before and I can use it in the morning. I don't hold much hope that that water will still be steaming hot in the morning. 😔 I suppose I could ask for room service to bring up hot water but how long does it take them to get to your room with the item you order?

Oh well, it's only a four day cruise.

I find one cup of good "fancy" coffee in the morning (from the dedicated coffee place) will tide me over until breakfast and the free coffee. At first I resisted as it seemed weird to pay for coffee on a cruise, but compared to the cost of the cruise, one coffee per day is nothing and starts me with a smile. But it does help to already have that argument in my head over with Before I head for coffee the first day ;)

Here are the Continental Breakfast options. You hang this outside your door the night before. Although HOT WATER isn’t an option, I’m sure they bring it if you order tea. Maybe just write it in?

I like Cove lattes. Get one every morning. Free one after 5. And the card carries over from cruise to cruise. I have one wirh 3 punches I’m bringing on next cruise.

I see the menu for the Enchanted Sword Cafe but I have a couple of questions that for some reason I am unable to find on Google. This place is the closest to our room with just a short elevator ride from Deck 8 to Deck 5 and the place is right the by the elevators.

#1 - Do they have regular black coffee there?

#2 - What time do they open?

No regular brewed coffee. Only what is referred to as Americano, still made using the Expresso machine and at an extra cost.

That's a shame. I guess it's hot water from the pool deck for my french press. 😔

How hot is the water that I can get from the pool deck? I need steaming hot water for my coffee press.

Just order hot water from the Continental breakfast menu. You get to choose what time they bring it and are generally pretty prompt.

I’ve always found the pool deck hot water is be very hot.

A carafe of room service coffee delivered late evening will stay hot until the morning. It makes for a great wake-up cup while lounging on the veranda, watching the sunrise.

I've heard that it is not drinkable.
I guess it depends on each person. My MIL is fairly picky about her coffee and she loved her room service coffee each morning. I didn't have it, so I can't comment. I will agree with others that the on-deck coffee isn't great, for me it does the trick, but it's not great. I do enjoy the coffee in the MDR, though!

We love good brewed black coffee and we brought a pour over filter for our first cruise last summer. We screwed up though, and forgot the coffee! So had to buy some in FT Lauderdale and it wasn’t that great. The pour over with the room service hot water worked fine, but did create a little chore/mess we had to deal with each morning. Since the coffee we had wasn’t great anyway, we ended up skipping the filter the last couple of mornings and just gagged down the room service coffee.

Edited to add: If we do another cruise, I will bring the pour over filter again, and just make sure I bring some freshly ground good coffee with us next time.
