Coffee - Where to find the BEST cups in the World

praline3001:
When you were standing in line for coffee at one of those stands, and a CM told you the brand of "foreign" coffee they sell....was the name of it maybe Douwe Egbert?

no, that doesn't sound familiar. AACKK i wish I could remember the name of the company that is running these coffee stands!!!!!

The lady said they are in the works of setting up more of them in the parks too.

They had all of the syrups and everything to make your coffee just the way you like it. I ordered several sugar free hazelnut iced coffee's while there but can't remember the name of the company running them :rotfl:

I thought about this too when I saw yet another "coffee thread"!!! :lmao:

Eep! Sorry about that! Not new to the DIS, but new to venturing out on the boards a bit more! And still a WDW Newbie!

I think the search function on this board hates me...lol

Am I right in thinking that the rooms in POP don't have coffee pots? We're staying there for the first time, and I'm totally thinking about bringing my french press and coffee from home. (We're coffee snobs.)
That is what I do. I have a stainless one, so it won't break when I travel, and I grind my coffee before we go. Yum!!!:surfweb:

There is no good coffee. :headache: You can get Kona at the Poly. I think
you can get Starbucks at the Swan/Dolphin. And Ghirardelli has something
deelish at DTD. If I have a coffee pot in the room/villa, I usually just bring
filters and coffee with me from home. :surfweb:

You can't use your snack credits for this coffee... I think that's the big clue, if you can't use snack credits ... you know its good coffee:rotfl:

Things may have changed with the new DDP, but we were able to use snack credits last June for the coffee at the Kona Coffee Bar in the Poly...both the small and large sizes. Very good coffee there.

There's a coffee pot swap at Pop since they do not have coffe makers in their rooms. If you go to the budget board, you should find the thread. That would prevent you from lugging a pot down there yourself.

I have to weigh in that the best coffee we found at WDW (and I am a HUGE coffee snob) was the press-pot of Kenyan coffee at Boma. Can't wait to go back and have some more (I dream of the stuff)!

Places in DW with Good Coffee (vs. NESCAFE everywhere else)...

In Resorts -
Boardwalk Resort - Spoodles restaurant
Contemporary Resort - coffee bar in the lobby
Coronada Springs Resort - Counter
Polynesian resort - Kona Cafe you can either buy in the restaurant or to take away at the Kona Isle next door - and O'hanas
Swan/Dolphin hotel - Starbucks
Animal Kingdom Lodge - Boma

At Theme Parks -
Animal Kingdom Park - Right before entering the AK gate...when walking up WAY over to the far right (near the souvenir stands) is a GREAT coffee stand. In Africa they have another one of these coffee stands. Also at their Rainforest Cafe. Also at McDonalds.
Epcot - right before you come to Mexico (from Future world). There is another in America.
Hollywood Studios - The Writers Stop

Other locales:
DTD - Ghirardelli
Starbucks at the Prime outlet mall - 5 min. from DTD (really need a car)

TIPS -
If you can't use your DDP snack credits for coffee, you know it's good coffee!
Bring your own 4-cup coffee filters, disposable travel cups w/lids, and sugar/splenda minis from home then buy a small carton of 1/2 and 1/2 in the gift shop.

updated w/everyone's posts up until this post! :wizard:

I haul my french press everywhere. I have a special little bag that I put it in when we go camping. But...I will check that out. Thanks for the suggestions!

anyone else have any places to add for good coffee that's not already on this list?

I always stay at Boardwalk and enter Epcot through International Gateway.

On my way in, I usually buy myself a double espresso at the stand between UK and Canada near the Off Kilter stage. Not the very best, but close enough.

Some observations about Nescafe & instant coffee ...

I have found instant coffees (including nescafe) to be quite good for the first cup out of the jar after breaking the foil seal. Instant coffee granules then go down hill rapidly once the air gets to them. Maybe coffee at Disney is no good because they buy it in enormous catering size tins.

I like my coffee very strong. (much stronger than generally available) Here in the UK, I have an espresso machine in my office and drink espresso on and off all day. The coffee grounds are supplied sealed in one cup 'pods'. The machine breaks the seal on the pod and forces water through it at exactly the right temperature and makes very good espresso. The 'pods' are not inexpensive (about 48 cents for a shot size cup).

The coffee system is called 'nespresso' and the pods are made by, guess who ...

Nescafe does make good coffee.... the problem is Disney is using their cheapy yucky stuff.

I love chickory coffee and I can't find that anywhere on property. Most cajuns grow up on chickory coffee so TO US regular coffee really taste odd! Whenever you go anywhere here in New Orleans, they only serve chickory.

I know there is a company that is not owned by Disney who has coffee stands in AK and Epcot. I did not get the name of the company or where all of their stands are.
I would REALLY love to know if these people have stands in MK or DHS as I have no idea where to get decent coffee in those 2 parks. I would rather a cup of iced coffee than a coke anyday :thumbsup2

If you have a coffeemaker in your room, the special AKL blend they sell in Zawadi Marketplace is fantastic. It's a Kenyan coffee roasted by Joffrey's in Tampa.

One warning: if you are staying at AKL, and order a pot of coffee from room service - it is Nescafe. I personally called and asked.

If you check Ebay, you can find Bodun french presses that are also travel mugs for $15-$20 including shipping. They are plastic, so they are lightweight and shatterproof.

I also bought self-heating mocha lattes for $1 each at Walmart. Press a button on the bottom. Liquid enters the outer chamber causing an exothermic reaction. Couple minutes later - hot, yummy coffee in a disposable cup. Other flavors include double shot latte, hazlenut and hot chocolate. They even have soups. It is made by Hillside. You can order them by the case on their website ($21 for 12, +$8.95 shipping), but that gets pricey.

FWIW,
Diana

Does Zawadi sell one-pound bags of whole bean Kenyan coffee? I know it's a blend, but if it tastes good, I'm willing to try it.

The one I purchased was already ground -- I don't know if they had whole bean or not. But despite that, it was quite good, at least when compared to most of the other coffee I've had on property. I also don't remember if it was a true pound or one of those 12-ounce bags that are replacing pounds everywhere.

I had a really good iced coffee last week in Epcot Futureworld heading toward Mission Space on the left (across from Test Track).

There is a Dunkin Donuts right up the road from the Gaylord Palms on 192 (right near the Publix.) It is 5 minutes from Pop Century/WWOS and 10 minutes from AKL if you have a car. There is a Starbucks about 1 minute from that DD on 192 across from Celebration. There is also a Starbucks in downtown Celebration and a new coffee/French pastry place opening in Water Tower Place in June (where PJ's used to be.) There is also a Starbucks at Universal Studios in the NY section.
