coffee table book idea/how to start it going

I was wondering how I would go about submitting an idea to a publisher about a coffee table book idea I have?

Does anyone know where to start??

LOL I was just going to ask if it's a coffee table book about coffee tables and then I saw your post!

I would go to the bookstore and pick out a book or several books of the same basic style and copy down the publisher information out of them. Then you can go home and look up the publisher online to see what their requirements are for publication. Different publishers have different criteria for the decision.

If your coffee table book has a local aspect to it, I would look not only to those people but also to a publisher who does special interest books in your geographic area.

Most of the major publishing houses won't even acept your submission or idea unless you are represented by a literary agent.

You are best off trying to find a local press/publisher who might be interested. In all honesty, once you've got interest, you can use that as leverage with the big publishers and agents.
