Coffee Questions

Hello DISers!

I know I have seen this question before but now I can't find the answer.
1. What kind of coffee makers are in the rooms? POR specifically? Do they use loose grinds in a coffee filter or do they use those" pods"- where the coffee is enclosed in a filter?
2. What kind of coffee is offered?
3. Would it be possible to use our own coffee in the coffee makers? We are very picky about our coffee (and not big fans of starbucks either). I plan on bringing the disposable coffee cups so we can take it with us!
4. Would we be allowed in the food courts with those cups?

So many questions, I know!

Have seen a pic & I think they are pods, but can't find anywhere to buy any. DH is a serious coffee snob, roasts & grinds his own beans daily (and hates Starbucks)
We may bring a travel French press, unless someone has an idea of where to get pods.

They are pods. If you're picky, you can do what I did last trip (at Pop which has no coffee maker). I got a Black & Decker travel one for $15 from Amazon & had it shipped to the resort. It's quite small & makes good coffee! I also had some #1 cone filters for it, and sent a couple Prime Pantry boxes, one of which contained Cafe Bustelo espresso ground coffee. Perfect.

I don't understand the question about being allowed into the food court with your cups. You can take them anywhere. Heck, to the pool with vodka!

I added a pack of disposable coffee cups in one Prime Pantry box.

I gotta have my coffee in bed. Or thereabouts. And it's gotta be good.

Thanks for the ideas! I just may take a look at Amazon. I was thinking of having a pantry box sent anyway, so I could add in the extras for coffee.
We also have a french press we use for camping but I am not sure if the coffee maker will heat the water hot enough to brew the coffee in the FP. Does that make sense?

Since the food court serves coffee, I didn't know if they would allow us to bring in our own. Some places are picky like that!

The coffee is Joffreys brand, the same coffee used in the food courts and restaurants on property. They supply regular and decaf in the rooms. They are in flat pods, made to work with Cuisinart type coffee makers. If you want your own ground coffee, you will need to bring your own coffee maker with you. I'm rather fussy about the coffee we drink, and grind my own beans every day or 2 at home. But I find the Joffreys coffee decent enough for our first morning cup.

This is a great thread, many thanks to the OP!
Any info on the coffee situation at Bay Lake Tower?
I actually do like Starbucks so wondering if there's a way to boil water or prepare instant coffee?
To purchase coffee, will we need to walk through to the Contemporary?

Thanks! It's only been 3 years since my last trip and I can't remember anything about the coffee maker! Are the coffee pots single serve? Could I bring my own pods and my own travel mugs (12 oz. disposable cups)? If so, that would be so much better than bringing my own coffee maker.

Yes, they are single serves. Not sure they would accommodate a 12 oz cup. But you could use the provided cups and just pour them into your own cups. And if you have your own pods, they should work fine.

Also as far as I remember the moderate resorts only provide disposable cups anyway so you don't need to worry about carrying them out of the room.

Bay Lake Tower is a DVC resort. DVC resorts have Mr Coffee style coffee makers, usually 10-12 cup size. You need to provide your own coffee filters (basket, flat bottom) and coffee if you want more than is provided on your service days.

Hotels (except for Value resorts) have Cuisinart coffee makers, make two cups side by side, with round, flat coffee pods (not K Cups - but like tea bags).

At BLT, you'll also have a microwave oven where you could heat water if you like.

It sounds like i can bring my own pods then! YAY! I really didnt want to buy a sibgle cup coffee maker (but i would have if it meant good coffee!). For anyone who wants to buy pods- check amazon. The selection isnt great but they do have some.

They are the flat pods that look like enclosed coffee filters. Not Keurig type pods. I haven't found a place to buy them. Especially good quality.

We're bringing 2 moka pots/coffee to our 1 brm at BLT.

There aren't any lids though so I bring my own disposable cups.

Would the coffee pods that work in a Senseo coffee maker work?

We are the type that can't move in the morning without good coffee, and we do like our own. We always pack our coffee maker and our coffee to bring with us. We get bottled water as Disney water isn't the greatest and does effect the taste. We just use the Disney mugs for our drinking cups.

Whyyyyy would you order from amazon, with the few brands offered, without trying the Joffrey's coffee? https://www.joffreys.com/ Local to Florida importer and roaster of coffees. Very decent.

We were buying their espressos at WDW long before Starbucks came in; they were (are?) the ones supplying/running the unbranded "espresso/pastries" kiosks like near the very front of Epcot.

Amazon is just convenient for me (I am a prime member) and I wanted extra coffee for the room. Hubby and I can drink at least two cups each just while getting ready. I didn't want to have to ask housekeeping to leave us extra coffee. I ordered Folger's pods. I ended up liking Joffrey's and now I know for the future that it is good coffee. The folger's pods worked out well, for anyone who is curious.

You can buy the Joffrey's pods online.

How does Joffrey's coffee taste like? Is it mild or strong? DH and I prefer dark coffee, like French Roast style. TIA
