Coffee maker or refillable mugs?

We are flying in to tent camp, so I'm now taking a hard look at our packing. We were going to bring a coffee maker, but since we'll be camping for six days, would it be better to just buy refillable mugs for our morning coffee? My wife could definitely drink a couple of them each morning. That coffee maker is looking really big now that we have to pack it in a suitcase that will be checked-in for our flight.

We are hoping to be in the 1500 loop, which looks pretty close to the Meadow Trading Post, so hopefully it would be fairly convenient to walk over and fuel up each am.

Also, has any one used wegoshop.com for their stay at Ft. Wilderness? Did they come right to your site/cabin? This looks a more reasonable way to purchase groceries (we won't have a vehicle, and the trading post grocery prices are scary).

No need to bring a coffee maker, Just buy the refillable mugs. The Meadow Trading Post is about 2-3 min walk from 1500 loop. Hope This Helps..

definitely can't beat the refillable mugs! you can put anything in them...cofee, tea, soft drinks. much easier than packing Mr. Coffee!

Bring the coffee maker! You might want to check what time the Meadows Trading Post opens. My recollection is that it is not until 9 am. When I am camping, I am up way before then, and would not like having to wait for my coffee. There is nothing better than getting up at sunrise and having a nice hot cup of coffee at your site without having to walk and get it. I am pretty sure that you can get your mug refilled at Trail's End, and that they open earlier, but that is a long haul from the 1500 loop. So, get rid of some of your clothes, and make room for the coffee maker!

Get the MUG then you are not limited to only coffee you can also get pop and hotchocolate and tea in it if you wish.

meadows doesn't open til 8. Trails End opens at 7:30. Meadows is only hot drinks, Trails End is hot drinks and soda.

Can you buy a 4-cup machine? Or the 1 cup at a time?

Another suggestion-if you are bringing a camping stove, then you should consider getting a french press. This is a small gadget, and it makes really good coffee, but you will need a way to boil water. I stand corrected on the opening time of the Meadows Trading Post, but 8 is still too late for my first cup of coffee when camping!

We're going to bring an electric hot pot. If we're in dire need for a caffeine fix, we could do some of those folger's singles. I'll look around for the coffee press though.

drewc- If you do a google search for unbreakable french press, you will come up with a bunch of options beginning at prices less than $10.00. Premium coffee sellers will grind the coffee specifically for a french press. or if you want to be really fancy, you can bring a small coffee grinder with you. I have seen the french presses for sale in Starbucks and Barnies. You would be able to use one of these with your electric hot pot.

I vote to make your own. The stuff they sell as coffee just does not cut it. Also, if you end up in the 2000 loop it takes 2 busses to get to Meadows TP.
