Hi, a coffee thread has me wondering...

We're staying at the Poly. I know they have coffee makers in the rooms, but what kind of coffee is in there? Is it Kona coffee or the Nescafe stuff??? Trying to figure out if we need to bring our own coffee along...:)

The free coffee in the room is the cheap stuff. Blech.

What we always do is bring along fresh ground coffee (Kona Blend) & the mini size filters from home... and then use the in-room coffee maker to brew some good coffee every morning. Cheaper than buying it by the cup from the Kona Coffee stand. Or I think you can buy the fresh ground Kona coffee beans (the really good stuff!) at the GCH and brew that--but that still costs $$$.

It's not actually NesCafe. I can't remember the name but I think it's a brand for hotels.

It's "Cafe Valet" brand. But it's not that good. Actually, what makes it bad is if you use the tap water. Bring your own coffee from home, and use bottled water...makes a HUGE difference. I plan to bring a bag of Dunkin Donuts coffee (from Target!) and some mini filters in my suitcase when I stay at Poly and brew some good coffee in the room.

So, if we're bringing filters and coffee from home, do we need the cone shaped filters, or the round with fluted sides kind of filters??

Thanks!

I believe it's the "Junior Basket Coffee Filters" for 4 - 6 cup coffee makers. Not the cone shaped ones. That's what we used last trip and they worked great with our Starbucks coffee grounds and bottled water (I completely agree with the previous post about using the bottled water).

Thanks for the info!!:thumbsup2

ya bring your own, the stuff they have in the room is not that good.

Oops, one more question...are the coffee makers the same in all the deluxes at least? We're going to be at WL, not the Poly. Anyone know? I just don't want to bring the wrong kind of filters (along w/our bottled water and our own coffee!).;)

As far as I know, they all use flat bottom 4 cup filters. If for some reason you come acoss a pot needing a cone shaped filter, you can easily fold a flat bottom filter into a cone shape, but can't use a cone filter in a flat bottom coffee pot.

I take coffee, filters, and disposable coffee cups.
