A quick question....

Do I need to add coffee filters to my grocery list (along with salt and pepper and laundry detergent)? If so, what size? They are listed on the room inventory, so they aren't on my list currently, but my husband will be very disappointed without a decent cup of coffee.

How about paper towels?

There is a roll of paper towels under the sink.

The free coffee you get is, I believe, in one of those filter packs, but that may have changed. We usually just bring the filter packs anyway, but if you want to bring your own coffee, I'd suggest packing some filters.

YES, bring coffee filters! We love to drink coffee also, and they give you the coffee already in the filter and they will give you as much as you need, but it doesn't taste as good as "real" coffee!:teeth: We usually will bring either Wisk or Tide tablets, they are easy to pack and to use. I don't remember seeing salt and pepper, so yes I would bring that too. Paper towel is provided. Have a great trip!!

They don't give you all the coffee you need, they charge you, big time.

1 coffee pack, 8 sugars, 8 creamers = 3.00

The coffee filters you will need are the large Mr. Coffee round ones. Basket style - 8-12 cup ones. 200 for .99 at WalMart.

Buy the disposable salt and pepper shakers. You will also need sugar (if you use it for your coffee), they provide a few packets of that and artificial stuff. You might want to bring coffee also. :) They do give you one packet of coffee already in the filter and will replenish that on T&T day, but, other than that, you need to supply your own.

Thanks guys.

Mr. Coffee basket, filters right? We have a Braun at home, so cone filters that I can't drag down with me. Do they come in sizes? Same size in the studio and the kitchen? Anybody buy them at the General Store (in case I forget during our grocery stop).

(I have my Wisk tablets packed - but now discover my mother in law is very sensitive - so we are adding Arm and Hammer laundry detergent to the list)

Also, as long as coffee is the topic of conversation, is there a place I want to go to or avoid to get decent ground coffee on our stop? (BTW, we are coffee snobs, Starbucks isn't decent, but we aren't really that stuck up, I don't want to go to the Poly for Kona either.) The rest of the grocery list is pretty basic.

The coffee pots are the same size. 8-12 cup basket size will work just fine. Nope, no cone filters. :( I avoid buying anything at the General Store, too darn expensive. I am not sure where you would want to stop for coffee, I am happy with Folgers or Maxwell house (no coffee snob here, lol). Most grocery stores have a nice selection of diferent coffees, I would avoid Goodings as they are outrageously priced. I would ask for either Winn Dixie or Publix.

:)

Thanks all for all the great info!!! I have the Folgers packed (just bought what was on sale...) almost forgot about filters (thank-you!!!!!!!!!!) and appreciate the tip for salt and pepper and sugar.

I know this is probably a personal preference question...but we are VERY new to DVC and are debating getting trash&towel service...or not..... any thoughts....I think coffee is included in the trash and towel...and I know this is going to sound stupid...so please forgive me....but what do you do with your trash, if you don't get trash&towel service????--do they have receptacle handy????

Appreciate all the tips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Thanks for posting this. If I hadn't seen it, we would have forgot!!

I'm glad they all mentioned not to forget the coffee! I just assumed that you'd be bringing your own:p

We are coffee snobs too:hyper: We ALWAYS bring our own from home. We have this great place here in Greensboro that roasts their own. They supply most of the local, non chain resturants. I asked DH if he could think of a coffee place in Orlando, but we can't think of any except Starbucks or Barnies

When is your trip? Maybe we could share some of our coffee!:teeth:

T&T is on your 4th day for a 7 day stay. They give you one coffee service. There are trash places for your trash. There should signs indicating their location. I know at OKW they are on the lower level of each building.

Another hint: Bring Brillo or SOS. The frying pans are non stick, but, at OKW the other pans are not. SOS makes life so much easier.

We leave Saturday already!!!!

(If we forget the coffee, I understand the Kona Cafe will sell it to us - $40 for 12 oz of roast Kona....but I did say we were coffee snobs.)

DH just looked at me like I was crazy!

After reading this thread, I proceeded to the kitchen, grabbed approximately 10 coffee filters, and added them to our luggage pile.

Only ten? Take 20 be safe. :)

Actually, I think I recall the coffee makers in the studios to be the 4 cup variety while those in the 1 and 2br villas to be the 8-12 cup. I know I've been stuck with the wrong filters on one half of a trip where we stayed in both. I think I bought the ones I needed for the first room and then the weren't the right size for the second room. But I'll double check in a couple of weeks if anyone needs confirmation on this!

Now my coffee maker at home uses cone type filters....so I just have a box of mixed size basket filters in my permanent DVC bag (along with laundry tablets, ponchos, etc.....)

Lesley,
I can only speak for the one studio I stayed in a couple of years ago and it had the 10 cup coffee maker. They used to have the small ones. I do believe you can request a 10 cup pot if you are in a studio with a 4 cupper.
