Coffee at WDW

I don't mean to be a coffee snob but most of the coffee at WDW is awful. Sponsorship should not come before the quality of the guest experience. I am not a person that thinks the only good coffee comes from Starbucks. A fresh brewed pot of Folger's tastes like gourmet compared to the sludge that is served at WDW.

We're crazy when it comes to coffee. We buy ground dunkin donuts coffee to brew in the room - much better :cool1:

Kona's and also Boatwrights have good coffee.

Kona's coffee is one of the big pluses for staying at the Poly. Several times last Xmas, our teenagers would get up and go get coffee to bring back to the room for I, the Mom. Gotta love 'em for things like that!

But this year I think we will bring our own Starbucks along with us. The coffee bar is not open 24/7. :coffee:

The coffee at Swan/Dolphin is Stabucks but they serve either HouseBlend or Breakfast Blend, cannot remember exactly....but no iced or any frappacinos(sp??) or expresso. My strategy is when I make my trip to Publix, I stop at Starbucks at the preminum outlet mall, get a large iced coffee and a couple of pounds of French Roast and I am good for the week. I brew a fresh delicious pot each am and save about half for my afternoon iced "pick-me-up" coffee.

If I start training my ds(11) now, maybe he will be ready for this task in 8 months.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Starbucks sells prefilled coffee filters in a pod its there house blend or you can bring coffee filters and your favorite coffee. They make 4 cups of coffee each I think each pod has like 1oz of ground coffee in it. Anyhow I take these with us wherever we travel. Usually plan on 2 pods per day so we always have out coffee the way we want it in the morning and one just incase we want one later in the day. I may bring loose coffee this time since I tend to love verona and am kinda stuck on there joya del dia blend.

I also pack my own teas and equall sells these little pills I bring. I usually do breakfast in room. Since we rent a car we hit the market and pick up cream cheese and bagels or cereal bars or both lol and some fresh fruit, oj, gingerale and cream cheese. I love getting ready in room and enjoying breakfast in room or on my way out. Bring your travel coffee cups so you can enjoy your coffee anywhere lol. I may have to join a toaster overn sharing group then I can have toasted bagels.

I cant wait to drink a cup of hot coffee while enjoying the carriage ride in P.O.R. hrm I may have to find a way to spike that cup we'll see.:coffee:

Are there coffee makers in the rooms? (We're staying at CR.) I guess we could take coffee and other supplies with us in our suitcase. If it's those little coffee makers, I'm not sure what type of filters to buy...

We're going to be at POR and BC, and I was wondering the same thing...

Thanks - I didn't know about the pre filled filters. I just received a $30 Starbucks gift certificate and didn't want to "waste" in on my morning coffees, I am going to get these! :goodvibes

EDITED TO ADD: I just went to the Starbucks website to look at the pre filled filter, all I see it that you have to buy 120 filters for $137? Is that right?

My first time staying at the Poly this year... so I'm sure a silly question - but is all the coffee there Kona coffee? So the refillable mugs get Kona coffee or it it Nescafe in the food court?

OMG dh and I are coffee snobs. Does the AK lodge have coffee makers in the room? and what about a fridge for milk? i can't move without having a couple cups of good coffee in the morning. thanks if anyone knows.

ok.
between the coffee syrup nightmare and the nestle link about the formula and breastfeeding thing back on page one, I am so finding another way to have coffee. I always wondered why the coffee at POR from the food court tasted like such total dreck. A portable coffee maker and some ground stuff is on my list. if ASMo had a microwave I could bring my french press.
Uggh. SYRUP??? Gaaaak!!!:sad2:

Does anyone have an answer about the type of filters needed in the coffee makers? :confused3 (We're in POR and BC)

I think I read that the POR has coffee makers in the room. Are they set up to bring and brew your own coffee easily? What size filter would I need?Maybe I'll just bring my own coffee maker. The only thing worse than not having my coffee in the morning is having BAD coffee in the morning! Me now: :surfweb:

The coffee pots are those smaller 4 cup pots, you use the regular filters, not the cone one. I use cone at home and can't remember the proper name of the other ones, (sorry)

good question. i guess no one knows. we are staying on at poly on next trip. not sure of coffee type in room or food court. but have had several cups and french press pots of kona at kona cafe. will be great to get this every am to take to parks. anyone out there aware of what is in rooms and food courts?

The coffee at Capt. Cooks is Nescafe. The coffee in the rooms is the same as in the other resorts - premeasured packets of grounds that make 4 cups per packet. (We actually use 2 packs per pot and use bottled water to get it to taste decent.) The regular coffee at Kona is also Nescafe. You have to ask for the press pot to get the good stuff.

Great idea about the 2 packs of coffee for the in-room coffee :thumbsup2
