Code Question

Last trip I received a very small discount (maybe a couple hundred dollars), in August, for our DEC 07 trip. After the discount was applied we owed about 300.00 additional. Last year we received a free dining code that would have been over 1000.00 off of our trip. Since discounts seem to be coming this year (I know not guaranteed but keeping my fingers crossed) here is my question.
What happens if the discount is more that the remaining balance on your trip? Do you lose the rest? Do you get a refund? Just wondering.

Last year, we'd already booked our Poly trip before the 7/4 deal came out. We called, and had that code applied to our already existing reservation.

And that's when a miracle happened... one my DH still talks about with awe...

Disney put money back into our account.

Yes, we had paid off our whole trip already when I found a code here on the dis. Our trip was about a month away at that point and they credited our credit card over $600!
