coconut water?

Ick! I bought a 12-pack at Costco. There are still 10 left and I bought them 6 months ago! I was expecting a coconut taste but I'm not getting any. I can't describe it but it just has a funky taste to it. I wish I would have just bought one bottle at a convenience store first!! Then I could have saved my money!

Costco was giving samples last weekend. It tastes salty and kinda funky. Wouldn't buy it. Hard to get the taste out of your mouth too. I wanted to like it because I heard how good it is for ya, but NO WAY!

They were handing out free samples at an event my family recently attended. We concluded that it tastes like they soak the coconut shell in water and then strain it through dirty socks. You should come to your own conclusion though. I do echo the opinion of the previous poster to just get one though...

I drink Sobe lifewater "coconut water." I put it in quotes because it's nowhere near real coconut water, but I love it. It's basically water with a slightly sweet coconut flavor. I buy it at Publix, Walmart, etc., but I only get one a week; I could never drink it in place of water.

I love this description!

I've never tried it because I had a close friend tell me it was nasty.

I've tried it and was not impressed. It has an off flavor, kind of heavy and it's not refreshing to me at all.

I made the same mistake and ended up dumping out more than half the boxes. I even tried mixing it with fruit juice and it wasn't good. A friend of mine says that fresh coconut water is delicious. She recommended Goya, but I haven't tried it yet.

Coconut water is the latest trendy natural rehydration drink, allegedly better than the sports drinks. YMMV - if it's undrinkable, it's useless.

It's sad because fresh coconut water, straight from the coconut, tastes amazing.
I have yet to find one they sell in the stores that can compare.

I tried one brand sold at Giant foods in PA. I really liked it once chilled. It had the flavor I was expecting without any aftertaste or gross chunks in it. I'll get the name the next time I'm in there, but when the sale price is 4 boxed drinks for $5, I don't buy them often.

Any other brand I've tried has been a disappointment.

But I also read recently that the nutrients in the coconut water are not worth the calories and you're better off sticking with water and eating a banana.

If you can imagine what rotten water would taste like if it had a shelf life like milk, this would be the flavor of coconut water. It was kind of funny watching people sampling it at Costco because after a few seconds people would comment and make a nasty face while walking away. It reminded me of watching people drink the Beverly at the Epcot Coca-cola station, only on a tamer level. My guess is that it won't be around in a few months.

Ha!:lmao:

I love coconut water! It's great because it has electrolytes in it, so I drink it cold, after I work out. I also love putting it in my smoothies. It isn't a strong flavor, so if you want a sweeter flavor- try one with pineapple or mango in it. ONE coconut water is pretty tasty.

Yeah that. I like the Sobe stuff, but it's not really "coconut water" in the same sense as what the PPs are talking about.

Like the Beverly, coconut water too, will last. It is very popular in many countries.

Bummer, not the response I was hoping for. :( I was hoping it was good. I read an article about it and how it is the only natural fluid that can replace blood in a human blood transfusion. Crazy huh?

I drink it after work outs! But, I do half water and half coconut water in a water bottle with one pack of splenda and some sliced lime and lemon or oranges and some ice cubes! I think it taste great this way and it is good for you!

Has anyone tried it and is it good? Where do you buy it?

I actually purchased it for the first time at Animal Kingdom last year with a snack credit lol and....consensus was NONE of us liked it and there were 5 of us. Not gross...just a really funky taste.

While I don't like coconut water by itself, I do like it in my morning smoothie.

This is a great recipe: (Thank you Pinterest) :thumbsup2

1 cup ice
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 banana
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1 tablespoon honey
1 cup coconut water

My DH and I either have this for breakfast or lunch daily!!

Amy & Brian Coconut Juice is amazing! Love it!

Taste Nirvana Real Coconut Water is really good too. I like it pulp free.

I will drink the Vita Coco and ONE coconut waters but like the two listed above the best.

I love it after a workout and during a juice cleanse I did a few months back, I had Coconut Water everyday at around 2pm when my energy level really dipped. I helped get me going again.

I bought a bottle at Walmart...I think it was coconut/mango....It was the nastiest thing I have ever tasted! No one in my family liked it. Glad I only paid $1 for it, and it went straight in the trash after the taste test:scared1:
