We have ressies there after our 10 day trip to WDW.

What do you guys think? Is there good restaruants? Is there "bananna boats" on the ocean? Para-sailing?

We are staying at the HOliday Inn oceanfront Resort with a Kid's Suite! Looks nice enough?

I would love tohear from anybody who has been to Cocoa beach recently(last 2-3 yrs!)

thanks,

katie

I went down to FL last September and stayed in CB. It was OK but not spectacular. It looks a bit run down and there are a few adult shops/theatres/stores along the main strip. If you plan to visit the parks a lot and wont be spending a lot of time in CB then you will be fine. However, it takes about 45-60 minutes each way to get to Disney. If I had the option of staying there again, I wouldn't unless $ was an option. I stayed at a timeshare property and for the week it was only $200.00 so I can't complain that much.

Have fun
:D

We stayed at Ocean Landings on Cocoa Beach last September for 3 nights. Spent the first day touring Kennedy Space Centre, watched the shuttle launch from the beach the following morning. There is a good breeze at the beach making the weather bearable. The kids loved jumping the waves in the sea. Didn't see any banana boats, although lots of people surfing.

Within the Ocean Landings was a restaurant , I think it was called Gregorys Steak and Seafood. Excellent food, a bit pricey. We ate there twice. It is advisable to book a table as it gets very busy with local people, but the food and service was excellent.

We loved it at Cocoa, it was nice relaxing break in the middle of our holiday, away from the theme parks.

A family from my son's class went in April, the only thing the mom had to say about it, and they stayed at the Holiday Inn, was that there was a large pipe blocking the way to the shoreline. Can anyone else confirm this? When I see her again at school, or maybe I'll ask one of the kids about it, I'll try to get back to you.

--- the general consensus is that the *west* coast beaches are much nicer than the east -- especially for younger families.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Katie..I really do, but we stayed at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront a year ago and it was horrible. Now, if it makes you feel any better, the hotel was undergoing renovations at the time and I've read that they've improved their hotel, but unfortunately we'd never set foot there again, not even if it was free! We were offered a complimentary upgrade to a Kidsuite and quite frankly, I'd have stayed in the car before I would have slept in there. I'm not trying to ruin your vacation, but I would have loved knowing about this place before it was too late and we were pulling into the cat-infested parking lot!
This subject has been discussed before (try a search for Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach, or just Cocoa Beach), and others have disagreed with me about this hotel, so perhaps it's all perception, I don't know. I'd be happy to pass along our experience if you'd like to e-mail me, but if you'd rather not know, I don't blame you either!
There were far nicer hotels around, and we didn't even stay beyond a few hours our first night, we walked away from our prepaid reservation, it was that bad.
We definitely will stick with the Gulf side for beaches!

Let me know if I can offer any help, or experience.

Nicole
