We will be at Disney next week and are planning on driving to the beach for the day. A few years ago we did the Nasa thing, so this will just be the beach. We are mainly interested in laying on the beach and taking in some sun- no swimming. Any hints about the best beach area for this would appreciated.

We stayed at the Hilton, which was very nice, we got a good rate (about $180 and included 2 tickets to NASA and free 2 breakfasts. The beach was nice but we did not spend much time on it since it was vary windy and cool (early February). If you are looking for a crowded “place to be seen” beach this would probably not be the area for you.

We went to Cocoa beach for the day in November. The beach itself isn't the prettiest because it has alot of seaweed kind of ugly brown all over and it is stickery to walk on. But we overlooked that and had a nice time. There is a boardwalk with shops & restaurants & bathroom which was nice. You can also rent chairs & umbrellas and just relax. Also go to Ron Jons surf shop it is a fun shop.:)

If you want to do a Florida beach in the winter, I would head to the Gulf unless you can manage to get a good warm day on your trip. The Gulf will be warmer than the Atlantic. I'm a fan of Clearwater Beach personally.
