Our Florida Adventure.
After 6 months of planning and reading this board religiously, we arrived in Orlando on Saturday May 31. Flew SWA out of Indy at 11:45. Security had to hand check my bag for the M&M container filled with quarters and pennies for the Smashed Penny machines. Arrived Orlando at 2:50. Rented a full size Buick Century car from National for $125 for 7 days using Entertainment rate. Out of airport by 3:30. My original plan was to do Universal first then Cocoa Beach at the end of the trip but I couldn't get Entertainment rates for HRH so I had to flip them. It worked out well. So I'll bore you with the Cocoa Beach information just in case anyone else might be interested in doing the same thing on their trip. We drove immediately to Cocoa Beach and stayed at the Hampton Inn. Nice hotel but nothing spectacular. Front desk staff wonderful. Nice free breakfast buffet. Saturday night went to planetarium and saw laser light show of Pink Floyd and viewed Jupiter through telescope. Sunday - we went to Kennedy Space Center (they have these plastic pass holders on a plastic string which we used a lot later at Universal). Monday - spent day at the beach then at 9pm took a Sea Turtle Preservation Society guided night hike to see a nesting sea turtle. VERY AWESOME! We left for HRH on Tuesday. See my next posting......
