Thinking of cocoa beach for spring break, my son wants to surf. Any good, nice but not horribly expensive hotels right on the beach?

Nicsmom said:We stayed at the Sheraton four points on Cocoa Beach this past August for 2 nights. It's perfect for surfers (I think. We are not surfers.) The hotel was nice. The restaurant was good, not great. Big fish tank with a small shark. (My DS 2 loved this). There is a large surf shop connected to the hotel and Ron Jons is next door. The beach is a 5 minute walk. The suite that we had was not what I expect a suite to be. It was one large room and a bathroom. The large room consisted of a "living room" with a sofa (sleep), table, lamps and a whirlpool tub (very strange to have it in the "living room". There is a divider and then the queen bed. The room was clean. The bed was nice. The view was a parking lot. 80% of the pool is covered by the garage. So not much sun. It's a small pool with a spa. My DD 12 felt funny because there is a publice walk way right next to the pool with a clear view of it. If you love using hotel pools, you will not like this one. If you will spend most of the time swimming in the ocean then you'll be fine. If you have questions, feel free to PM me.

Amity 3 said:thigh high, mushy waves. you can surf it, but there's nothing major there. 16streets.com shows 1-2 ft swells right now.
