Are there any Cocoa Beach hotels, that just charge extra for a fifth person, instead of wanting you to get a 2nd room?

The Four Points by Sheraton offers a suite, two queen beds and a sofa bed, room will sleep 5. You can try Country Inn and Suites and Marriott Residence Inn as well.

Can anyone help with some suggestions of activities in the area, also?

We will be in Orlando prior. Should we visit a different beach instead?
Any other recommendations?

Neither of those is directly 'ON' the beach, so if your intent is to stay on the beach be aware of that.

I loved the Doubletree Cocoa Beach Oceanfront. It was not very expensive and very pleasant, right on the beach. It is currently closed due to storm damage though. Not sure when they reopen. I did a 'dummy' reservation request for 2 adults, 3 kids and it allowed me to book just one room.

Activies depend on what time of year you will be visiting Cocoa. So when will you be there?

We will be there in February, Presidents week. At Disney for 4 days from Sun to Wed, but we have a few days before and after that for other things.

Just a heads up it will be cold at Cocoa or any other beach so be prepared and bundle up. The winds on the coast will make the temps colder than at Disney. Feb is not exactly beach weather.

The kids really want to go to the beach~~ I told them we wouldn't be tanning!
They haven't been in so long. I am looking for alternative activities also there.

I would suggest booking soon.

the week leading up to Feb 26 is the Daytona 500/speedweeks

Everything fills up in Daytona so people stay in Cocoa Beach/Palm Coast/Deland,Sanford, etc.

Might not be warm but I do remember my dd getting a really bad sunburn in late January in Cocoa Beach, just before my ds's wedding. So, the sun is still powerful even if not overly warm!!!

we went there last feburary.... .six of us.... all in one suite...awsome stay and its right on the beach...wonderful place... basketball court, tennis court and very very reasonable.. and being from upstate NY we found the weather was great...70's every day....swam in ocean every day... water was alittle chilly but was no different then jumping into a adirondack lake in middle of July....have fun
