Do we need to bring coats, jackets, sweatshirts, etc for a disney trip from Feb 14-Feb 21? Can you wear shorts, swim, etc.

Thanks

We were in Orlando the middle of February last year.. We had to wear sweatshirts at night... Shorts? Depends on the person, but bring a pair in case. I was able to be comfortable in a t-shirt, capris and flip flops.. But at night it does get cold...

The pools are heated and you can swim, but laying out in the sun or going to one of the water parks depends on if there is a cold breeze or not.. It is a great time of year to visit though!

I have been there in Feb. when shorts were very appropriate during the day. We even sat poolside one night and wore our tees!

I am going to be there Feb 19 - 22 and plan on wearing jeans down and packing shorts, tees, a sweatshirt and my running clothes for the race on Sat in Orlando!!!

We were just there a couple of weeks ago. It REALLY depends on your personal body thermostat. Personally, I wear shorts at home on days when my DH is in his heavy winter coat.

We felt most comfortable with fleece jackets in the morning and evening, and could go either way between shorts and long pants during the day. (It was warm enough for shorts, but not so hot that you'd feel too warm in long pants.) We did swim in the heated pools, but needed to wrap up in towels after getting out of the water.

My DS and I spent one day at Islands of Adventure (with lots of watery rides), and were among the few people there wearing shorts. So we were walking around in wet shorts, while others were in wet jeans. Personally, I'd MUCH rather be in wet shorts, even if it is a little cool out.

Disclaimer - I live in Florida. I put on a jacket when the weather dips below 70 degrees.

My advice is to watch the weather. It changes so quickly - you may be able to swim in February or you may be bundled up. We get warm fronts coming up from Mexico that make it shorts weather, then the next day a blast of artic air from up north brings rain and sweater weather. Even if the weather is predicted to be warm you might want to add a pair of jeans or a jacket for the evening. Then again, it would be a perfect chance to buy whatever you were missing! :)

We were at Disney 2 weeks ago and I wore jeans and a sweater or long sleeved t-shirt all week. My kids swam in the pool (with breaks in the hot tub), and we saw plenty of people wearing shorts (and some really short-shorts).

I am glad to have found this thread- We'll be there Feb 14-23.
Last time we went in December and froze. This year I'm bringing light jackets and a sweatshirt for each of us but also throwing in a pair of shorts just in case!!!

We go in February and every other year in April. I have never REPEAT never worn long pants in Florida! I have worn a light jacket at times.

We will be there again 02/18 to 03/03 and I am not packing any long pants and I doubt anyone else in my family is.

However, we are from Northern Vermont. 60-70 degrees is great weather for us.

Another floridian here;)

Best advice I can give you is to pack a little of everything. This time of year can be kind of tricky. We've had days that are 75 and then a cold front comes through and it's 55 the very next day. Right at this moment it's about 72 and it's 4pm. You may luck out and have steady warm weather but it can get cold and be down right chilly so just bring a little of everything so that you are prepared.

Sorry if that doesn't sound like much help but it's better to have both warmer and colder weather clothes than to be freezing because you only packed shorts or sweating walking around in long pants -- and who wants to have to buy more clothes because you didn't pack well enough?!

Anyway, hope this was of some help. With any luck those of you coming down here to FLA. this month will have beautiful warm weather like what's outside right now;)

It reached 80 degrees today in Clearwater (on my NOT official weather thermometer). My Florida kids are in shorts! This weekend it's supposed to rain, then it'll get cold again (60s). Brrr! :sunny:

We will be there the 15th - 21st and I am in the process of putting a few things together now. Probably mostly shorts and short sleeve shirts, a pair of capris each and the pants we will wear. I will also include a sweatshirt each and a fleece pullover for the kids (which hopefully we won't need!). I don't plan on going commando this trip so I can do a load of wash if necessary.

I am going to watch the weather forcast and make any last minute modifications. Hopefully that means ditching the fleece in favor of more shorts!!

I would check www.accuweather.com before you go. They are usually pretty accurate and will give you a forecast for 15 days out. I grew up in Florida and in Feb. it is usually pretty warm, but a freak cold snap can happen. My grandparents lived in Central Fl. (about 1 hour from Disney, we were in Ft. Lauderdale) and I do remember them having to drive home from a visit at our house because of a cold snap and they thought their hot tub might freeze!
