This was to be the final leg of the trifecta- Montu, Kraken and Hulk.
We awoke early as usual and the kids had to visit the McDonalds on Sandlake at least once per trip. I skipped the food going straight upstairs to my favorite pinball machine, "The Simpson's". The kids finished eating and were hovering around me in no time. I was killing the machine and could have spent most of the day there so I got them $5 in tokens. They went through the tokens on just 2 of my pinballs. When they started fighting over the last token I decided we should go before security arrived. When we got to RPR I asked my DD10 where her CITH gloves were and she said she left them on the tray at McDonalds and DS15 threw them away with the trash. Stupid!
We got to RPR and Pia did her thing. We had a note from the manager on our ressies for a certain room. The fax request that I had sent 3 days prior had worked. DD10's artistery played a big factor in the level of cuteness. She had drawn Bullwinkle wearing a Santa hat, grass skirt, RPR letter sweater and waving a BULA, BULA pennant. I topped it off with the Fractured Fairytale Fairy and a small drawing of Rocky and Bullwinkle in a horse drawn sleigh, quilt, earmuffs and a Santa hat. I asked for the top floor of Tower 1 and was given #1712. The only problem was that we called all day long asking if it was available and one time my son asked when and they got a little short with him saying "4 o'clock, Sir!"
I asked Pia if she could connect me with DaddyDon which she did and we met in the lobby. I was going to do the same with Ramie but I forgot her last name. I had it written down but it was at our other hotel. Don was kind of bummed because, like Spidey, his kid was sick with the flu. I'm glad we got to meet. Its good to put a face with a name. My kids were polite but I could tell they were ready to hit them express lines with our newly acquired plastic FOTL magic wands, so we said hello and goodby fairly quickly but I think our paths will cross again. Don is now an addict that needs the periodic fix and he gets good deals. I was able to take a Dramamine talking to Don that the kids didn't see.
We headed off for IOA and got there right at opening. We got to the most opportune spot at the second rope under Hulk and was first in the front car line. My kids kept looking at me wondering why I was walking so far with them and freaked when they found out that I was going to ride with them. I had done Kraken the day before but I wasn't hooked on Krak and I knew this would be my only Hulk. This time we loaded how I wanted DD, Me, DS ,empty seat. I think you never forget your first Hulk. I had to take time out of my paralyzing fear to Marvel at the engineering and power required to launch the entire coaster like a catapult into a nasty spiral curve and on your back for a weightless roll. I think we then plunged toward the water then back up. This is where I lost track of the loops and twists but I vaguely remember going under ground/water again. I managed not to look like a panic stricken coasterphobe in the photo. It was easier to ride the second coaster but don't book tickets to Cedar Point just yet. My stretch Grinch gloves felt good in the fresh morning air but I think I'm going to hang up the gloves on this coaster career about now.
I got off of the Hulk woozy walking sideways down the ramp and almost all the way to Spidey which was down. No problem because of the FOTL wands.
I wanted to do anything that wouldn't take FOTL the first thing so we headed directly to the Pteranodon Flyers. I can't even pronounce this. I bet it is the next attraction to go. This loads slower than any ride anywhere in the Universe. Throughput of 170? Dumbo is twice as fast. The park just opened and there was a 30 minute wait. I had to ask the attendant if we could ride because DD is too old per the book. My DS thought we had slipped past him at the exit because it took so long. The 75 second ride is exhilerating and I got a laugh out of DD by screaming like a school girl. I would recommend skipping this to anyone but those who have done everything else.
JP River Adventure is like a Big Mac, pretty consistent and predictable but I get a kick out of those that don't know how to ride it. We can't help but do the plunge hands up!
On to DD and the kids are released to quickly go on alone minimizing the wait when I arrive.
They did both sides twice which hadn't been discussed but I had fun people watching from my spot on the concrete stump. I have never gone to a park with eating in mind but since reading the Disboards thought we should try Mythos. I had a BBQ sandwich, DD kid's chicken finger and they let DS15 get a kid's cheeseburger. It was OK but we are just as satisfied eating at Wimpy's watching the rafters.
We went to see the Mystic Fountain and he tore us up. He got DD this time and DS really rubbed it in. I thought it was a little rough when Rocky told Roxy to comb her hair.
She was muttering all the way to Whoville.
CITH let me know that the Dramamine was wearing thin.
Spidey was up when arrived so we rode it. Always awesome and enhanced by FOTL. We had the back seat while some first time Asian girls were up front screaming the whole trip and we had some extra laughs from them.DD had to have her face painted while DS did the arcade. We played a little Foosball and I let DS score a couple.
We walked over to RPR about 4 to check out the room but had to hang in the lobby and watch football until it was ready after 5. They would have given us another room at 4 but I wanted the one that we requested. 1712 is ok but I would rather see the park than the pool and pay $20 less. I think 1640 will be our next request. We ate cheeseburgers at Jake's and I gave the kids a handful of cash and told them they could go to the Cineplex by themselves. This totally thrilled DD because she wants to be independant in the worst way. She is going to leave the nest early. I went to the room and chilled. It was nice being alone. I was asleep when they got home and they thought they was going to watch the tube and play some grab bum. Like a bear out of hibernation I let them know it was bedtime.
Tomorrow my favorite US!! We have finished the "Coaster Christmas" with 3 parks in as many days! The kids got 2 coasters out of me and now I could relax...
