Coast to Coast Challenge Question

Do you have to sign up for the Coast to Coast before your first race of the year? If you were going to do the WDW 1/2 and possibly the DL 1/2, do you have to register for the WDW 1/2 that way or just the DL 1/2 in case you aren't sure? Thanks

I may be mistaken but I don't believe you have to sign up for the coast to coast. I thought you just had to register for the two races with the same Active account, finish them in the same year, and the coast to coast thing is taken care of automatically.

Someone who's done it can chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

At some point during your race registration they ask you the question if you are going Coast to Coast. Then you pick up a wristband at the Expo after you have received your race number and that allows you to receive the medal after the race.

I haven't done C2C yet, so I could be way off. That being said, I noticed the question about C2C on the registration for marathon weekend, and clicked yes since I plan to participate this year. I know Disney is big into trying to talk people into running other Disney races while they are at a different event weekend, so not everyone will know they are doing c2c when they register for race #1. I bet the really important time to mention on registration that you are running c2c would be on the race form for the second coast's race. If you don't mention it on your registration, I'm sure you can go to a booth at the expo and they can look you up and verify that you are going to complete c2c.

Disney actually keeps track for you so if you forget to check the box, they will know. You don't have to say you are planning on getting your coast to coast or not. They just match your name with two eligible races and you get the band then. In January, they changed the process a bit by not having a special line for C2C. You just went to the line with your number and they would grab a wristband for you then. It was just a bit more special when you had your own lines...kind of like the Goofy. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

To answer your question more directly, no you do not. I don't even think there was an option for the C2C when you sign up for the WDW 1/2, because it is the first race of the year. But, regardless it is the second race that counts and you need to be sure you register for (either online or at the expo), because that is when you are given your additional medal.

It used to be simple because you could only get the C2C after the DL half. But, now with the Tink run you could do it in reverse order. For my last one I just had to let them know at the sign up for the second qualifying race. That way they gave me a special wrist band to wear so that when I crossed the finish, they sent me over to get my C2C medal. I think the most important part is registration for the second race.

I did notice when registering the other day for the WDWMarathon that it asked if you were participating in C2C. If you don't know when registering for your first race it doesn't really matter, that seemed to be just a "survey" kind of question. They keep track of you by your name and birthdate anyway so they will know when you register for the second leg.
