I didn't go there, but I spent a night there once when I was in college. No, not like that! The Academy co-sponsored a Halloween dance with my college and we drove down there and spent the night in separate dorms. There were about 50 of us. It was a great night. The campus is beautiful. It's in New London, right on the water (obviously). They have great facilities. They're close to the Mohegan Sun Casino for when mom and dad visit. Most importantly, the people there were so nice. Most of the students I met were guys (being from an all-girls' college, that's what we were interested in). They were total gentleman - very polite, kind and warm. We had a wonderful time at the dance. They were all in cadet uniform or a sport team uniform. And they had tons of chaperones. I remember noticing that because we had none with us. I still talk to one guy I met there.

My dad was the Cadet band director there for years. I love the school, I practically grew up there. Well mannered kids, amazing academics, and plenty of extracurricular activities. The school itself is beautiful and well tended. The students all live on base in dorms, they also have a medical clinic or they go over the bridge to the navy base (larger hospital). The food is really good too. DH was in the Navy and they used to go to CGA for lunch. The school has transportation to and from the area mall. I don't think they can have cars until their 3rd or 4th year but I'm not positive. All freshman have to go out in public in uniform. They don't get civie chits until their 2nd year.

There are more boys than girls there, in fact they bring in girls from the local colleges and high schools for dances. Connecticut College is right across the street too.

20 years after retiring my dad still gets visits and talks to the cadets in the band. Most have had very fulfilling carers in the C.G.
