Great start
You can't beat EOS for a great lunchtime snack on arrival day :cloud9:

It was heavenly! I only wish that we had one within a 3 hour radius of home!

You're welcome! Dining reviews always play a huge roll in my decision making process so I am always happy to give back when we return.

subscribing - that's better than the average plane food :)

Definitely was! Thanks for joining!

Before we headed back to our hotel, I really wanted to stop and try out Babycakes. It was a little confusing to find. It is inside Pollo Campero tucked away in a little corner. Neither of us have any type of food allergy, but I had heard they were still pretty darn good. We took them to go and brought them back to the hotel.

The come in these cute little boxes.

This is the lemon cake.

And a red velvet.

Both were snack credits on the dining plan, and a good value on the dining plan at $3.95 each.

The lemon one was very tasty. I enjoyed the texture of the cake. The icing is definitely different. It is more like a heavy glaze that you would put on top of a pound cake than it is an icing. I enjoyed it, but I can see where anyone that expects a heavenly rich buttercreamy frosting would be disappointed.

The red velvet was not as good as the lemon, mostly because it cannot have a cream cheese icing since it is dairy-free. The cake part was yummy and moist, but the icing really just had an "off" flavor.

That being said, I would have cupcakes from here again!

Great reviews of Earl of Sandwich and Babycakes - haven't been to Earl of Sandwich in years, but I also enjoyed Babycakes for the first time this month. :)

Your ADR lineup is awesome - so many reviews I'm looking forward to seeing! Can't wait for more :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 Great reviews so far. I hope you and Adam trained for months before going to eat all those delicious meals. I'm just glad we walk a lot at the parks otherwise I would be in trouble.... :rotfl:
Enjoy your trip!!!

I love Earl of Sandwich. We usually eat there when we are not on the dining plan. I am going to have to go to Babycakes and get the lemon cupcake. They look so good.

Looking forward to reading more!

Thanks for joining the party!

Welcome! I see that you are headed to Disneyland later this year! We will be there from May 8th-12th, hence the Coast 2 Coast title.

Haha, there wasn't any formal training. We did deluxe before and enjoyed it, but we certainly wouldn't eat like this at home on a regular basis. Thank goodness for all the walking though!

Definitely go with the lemon! I think the lemon-y flavor distracts you from the fact that it isn't a traditional cupcake. It was very light and refreshing.

We headed over to the Boardwalk to our very first dinner (and first signature) of the trip.

We were about 10 minutes early, and were handed a pager. Very soon we were lead inside the restaurant and to a table towards the back of the restaurant. There was a small wedding reception going on at the tables behind ours.

The first thing that you notice when you walk into Flying Fish is the noise. It was overwhelming, but due to the fact that the kitchen here is completely open to the rest of the restaurant. There is ample seating at the counter, which I might request to try next time.

Our servers name was Rogelio. He was nice enough, but not very attentive. He was one of the servers for the wedding reception as well, so perhaps he was a bit overwhelmed. We had a very nice view from our table.

Disneyworld2012115.jpg

We started off with some cocktails!

Disneyworld2012116.jpg

A Hefeweizen for Adam.

Disneyworld2012117.jpg

And a blood orange margarita for me. Very tasty and seemingly the same recipe used at La Cava for their blood orange. Only difference was that this had a plain sugar rim.

Disneyworld2012118.jpg

Bread at butter service. Ok, nothing special.

And then it was time for the good stuff!!

Disneyworld2012119.jpg

I started with this! Yellowfin Tuna Tartar and Crispy Tempura Tuna-Vegetable Sushi Roll - Hijiki and Wakame Seaweed, Yuzu Tobiko, Wasabi Foam, with Sweet-and-Spicy Sauce $16.00 The sushi roll and tartar were excellent. I don't care for seaweed salads in general. This was no exception. The wasabi foam was nice and added a good heat to the tartare. The soy sauce was excellent with the sushi roll. There was actually some fish in the roll along with the vegetables. I wish there wasn't. Since it was a tempura roll, the tuna ended up being cooked through and wasn't all that appetizing. It really ruined the integrity of the fish, but was still tasty. It was also a very large portion for an appetizer.

Disneyworld2012120.jpg

Adam started with, not surprisingly, a tomato salad. If you followed along with my first dining report, you know that Adam would probably trade me in for a lifetime supply of fresh, ripe, tomatoes. I on the other hand, cannot stand tomatoes!

Fresh Mozzarella di Bufala - Florida Yellow Beefsteak, Heirloom and Tiny grape Tomatoes, aged Balsamico, Exotic Peppercorns, Petite Basil, and Sicilian Olio Verde $15.00

He claimed this to be very good.

For entree's I couldn't resist their signature item.
Disneyworld2012121.jpg

Our Signature Flying Fish Café "Potato-wrapped Red Snapper" - Leek Fondue with a Veal Glace, Red Wine, and Cassis Butter reduction $36.00

This was good and went nicely with the red wine reduction. The leeks were very disappointing. Mine were severely underdone and very crunchy. If you've ever had an underdone leek, you know that they are completely unappetizing. The fish was nicely done and the potato wrapping was crispy without being greasy and kept the fish nice and moist on the inside. I probably wouldn't order this again as it didn't really wow me.

Disneyworld2012123.jpg

It was a "Surf and Surf" special which has mysteriously disappeared from the menu. It was flounder and laughing bird shrimp, and the flounder had a horseradish and bread crumb crust. It was very good as well, the shrimp were outstanding!

Next up was dessert. I had my eye on the boardwalk treats sampler for quite awhile. But our server (who was now a guy named Moh, who was much more attentive than Rogelio) let me know that they were just debuting a new dessert, a Peanut Butter and Jelly Creme Brulee. Say what? I quickly jumped ship and ordere the PB&J Brulee.

Disneyworld2012125.jpg

That little eye dropper thing that looks like something you would have used in 5th grade science class was filled with chocolate. I chose not to inject it into the brulee.

Oh. My. Word. This was in the top 5 best desserts of ALL TIME! There is a healthy layer of grape jam on the bottom, and then a creamy, thick layer of peanut butter custard on top. The sweetness of the peanut butter (picture the filling of Reese's peanut butter cups, but much creamier) was lightened by the jelly. It was just really delicious.

Adam had this.
Disneyworld2012124.jpg

Marcona Almond-laced Chocolate Mousse and Sinful Triple Rich Brownie Creation - apple-wood smoked bacon praline crunch, smokey salt-scented chocolate sorbet and raspberry coulis $8.00

This was also very good, but not nearly as amazing as mine!

Overall we had an enjoyable meal here. It was salvaged by the incredible desserts. In the future I would definitely come by for dessert, but I wasn't wowed by the entree offerings.

The PB&J crème brûlée looks and sounds incredible! I should have tried it when I had the chance. :worship:

Great reviews!! Oh I would love to try the PB&J Creme Brulee! I'm not one that really cares for Creme Brulee's (the sugar hurts my mouth) but to try the Peanut Butter layer I would sure give it a try!!

I have Flying fish on our plans for October! I'm scared though as my hubby is allergic to crustaceans! I don't see apps that he will be able to have...

(I'm sorry to ask this but is there any way to make your pictures smaller? The whole picture doesn't fit on my screen (I have my screen set to the highest resolution so its as small as I can make it on my end) without scrolling so I can't see all the deliciousness!)

First, let me just give everyone a huge :welcome: Thank you all for joining in, and I promise it will be worth the wait!

YAY!! Wisconsin!! Everytime I would see someone in the parks with their Packers gear on, I would literally shout "GO GREEN BAY!!!" and then receive nothing but blank stares in return. :confused3

Thank you!

I guarantee if you were around and my 5 yr old were around you would have gotten a running high 5!! Those peeps may be Packer fans, but they aren't Wisconsinites!! ;)

The meal at Flying Fish looks awesome. It's really my favorite signature.

And now, thinking of it, I'm wondering if I should be doing it and not Narcoossee's.

Great reviews, keep em coming!

We're planning on making Flying Fish our first meal of our fall trip. We're staying at YC, so we thought it would be convenient in case we're exhausted after dinner.

I like creme brulee, but I'm not sure how I'd feel about PB&J. It almost sounds like the jelly on the bottom would make it too sweet for my tastes. But maybe hubby will get it and I can just try his. LOL

I think the salads on the menu are all appetizers, if he is a salad-y kind of guy. I can definitely try to make the pictures smaller, do you know how to? I use photobucket, so not sure how to go about doing it.

Heck yes! Now THERE is the enthusiasm I was looking for all week!

Well, we ate at both. My Narcoossee's review is going to be coming up, but I will say this, if I could only pick one, it would be Flying Fish!

The jelly was actually more tart then sweet. The peanut butter part was very sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. I do like sweet desserts though.

Great review of FF :goodvibes

Can I ask, was the Blood Orange Margarita very sweet?; I don't like my drinks too sweet but I have my eye on this one at La Cava

Babycakes is somewhere I want to try on our next trip, the lemon cupcake looks lovely :thumbsup2

I knew I should not have began reading this till after lunch ;)

Looking good so far!!

It is tart. They have a sugar rim on the one at FF but is definitely more tart than sweet, even with the sugar rim. It was very refreshing on a hot night. It was over 90 that day, and it went down way too quickly. (I think La Cava uses salt. I can't remember.)

I knew I should not have began reading this till after lunch ;)

Looking good so far!!

Thank you!
