I am partial to MK mostly because they seem to have fewer purses that smack you in the face with the MK logo. I like the bags but I don't like them to scream MK. Most of the Coach bags I see have the logo all over them. But, like Miskey said, any new purse makes me a happy girl.
I mentioned that the basics of Coach handbags was that they originally didn't have any external marking identifying their name. They did usually have a leather tag with the name stamped on it, but that was only if you insisted on letting people know what the brand was.
I love the vintage leather Coach Classics. I've still got my large, envelope shoulder bag that my parents gave me for Christmas in 1982 and it looks amazing. The hardware is still in great condition. They probably paid a hundred bucks for that bag, and I'll be able to leave it to my future daughter-in-law. That is some great value there!
I don't think there's much of that style these days. Coach used to be more a leather goods company that sold a distinctive style of leather. I could tell just by looking at it. At this point they're a fashion brand. The warranty is also pretty much gone. I remember buying my mom a bag that sold for $270 in the mid-90s. She had a tendency to overload it, and the stitching of the strap kept on coming loose. Coach replaced it maybe three times over the years for a shipping fee ($10 or $20) each time. They would accept it at their stores, but I believe these days it has to be shipped to their service center and they may not even fix it. Isn't there also a time limit now?
